After shooting and messing with about every arrow I own, I have settled on one that goes right where I'm looking almost every time. 55-60 douglas fir, 29" tipped with 130gn. Zwickey Delta. Talk about a confidence arrow! This is it. How about you?
Full length, .400 spine, Easton Full Metal Jacket with 3-4" parabolic feathers, a 75gr brass insert, and a 150gr German Kinetic broadhead!
Bisch
29.5" Cedar or Doug Fir 75/80#, hunting taper and 175 gn Abowyer Brown Bear. Cedar generally weighs 580 gn with tip or BH. Fir about 640 gn.
Full length .400 Easton Axis Traditional, 75g brass insert, 4" parabolic feathers, 125g or 225g tip/head depending on which bow it's being used with.
31 1/2" Easton Classic 2117,3 5 1/2" feathers fletched helical and 165 gr. Zwickey's.
Since Pigger and I started hunting together, my go to arrow is a:
60-65 back taper Shurewood shaft, 3-5" RW feathers, tipped with 145 Eclipse Broadhead. Pigger and I'd have used it on on everything from grouse, deer, mountain lion, elk, moose, and bison. Don't see much reason to mess with all the new fangled stuff.
My personal observation: Dead is Dead, the critter don't care much how popular the setup is. Shoot the setup that recovers the quickest, flys the straightest, and hits where you want it to.
I have A Gold tip, with 4 4" yellow feathers, 100gr brass insert and a woodsman broadhead that last year I got a mule deer and 2 white tails with. Great logo. :archer2:
I have 4 depends on what I find on sale or I feel like at the moment.
27.75" 2016, 4x3" or 3x5" depending on what I have. 145 fp, so my set up shoots 175 woodsmans or 145 razor heads perfect.
27.5" 50-55 Sitka spruce, 145 Simmons heads 160fp
27.5" 45-50 Sitka spruce, 125fp and Zwicky.
Cx heritage 150 28" 175 fp, and woodsmans.
All of these shoot perfect, but my goto is my sitkas and 2016s
30.5" AD Trad with 100 gr brass insert and 300 Xtreme broadheads. 4 fletch 4" shield chartruse, Easton G nocks and unibushings.
