I have a bear montana that is very quiet.
I made three new bow string for, The first (16 strand bcy-x loud twang) (second bcy-x 22 strand loud twang)(third SX2 18 strand loud twang).
All loops are padded to a minimum of .100.
WHAT AN I DOING WRONG.
Low stretch strings have a higher pitched sound than dacron, IMO. Just put some string silencers on them.
Padded loops don't seem to make much difference in the noise on a longbow--it's to give more surface area (does seem to make recurve strings quieter).
Noise is usually due to tuning. Brace height, silencer placement, nock fit, your release, arrow weight, even arrow spine can all make a difference.
Without seeing/hearing it, all I can do is guess. X is very quiet on my bows. I usually shoot 18-20 strands with the loops padded to 24 with B-55.
