Title: Feathers on arrows
Post by: Hillbilly WA on October 12, 2007, 08:40:00 AM
Hi guys i've just finished cresting and staining a new set of arrows. There Victorian Ash 5/16 40/45# I shoot a 35# viper longbow and they come out nicely.
I am deciding whether to put parabolic or shield cut. I am using 4" due to the lack in poundage. I have got a pack of parabolics but i reckon shield cut might look better. What do you guys reckon? Is there anything different about them, other than looks, that makes one better than the other?

Thanks
Carl

I have heard some folks say that different cuts of feathers sometimes make noise when shot with a given bow or shooting style. I would make up one or two each way and see how they shoot off of YOUR equipment and style.

Shield cuts just look better, IMO, but the shields may be a bit noisier than parabolics.

Shield cuts are higher in the back, And look better IMO, and stableize quicker than parabolics but are a bit noisier. The noise differance is so slight it is a non issue for me

I like the shield cuts, like Scattershot mentioned they look better. But my all time favorit is the bannana.
