Recently, I have really been enjoying shooting my longbows. I have a Ringing Rocks 64" hickory and a 68" Samick Red Stag. Hunting in the brush in Alabama does not favor a 68" bow, and I want something more than 62". I have looked at the Bear AuSable and Patriot and both seem nice.
I want something at 64", reflex deflex, with a contoured grip like a recurve. Besides these and the Savannah, what else should I look at?
There are so many. Here's a few great ones: Toelke Whip, Fox Royal Crown, Stalker Dingo, Northern Mist Baraga. All these bowyers will make the grip how you like.
Give Mike Mecredy at Maddog Archery a call...he will make you a better bow for your needs for less money...sounds like you think production bows are your only choice...nothing could be further from the truth

Thanks. I'm not married to production bows, but I have never had a custom bow made. Everything I have ever shot has been pretty much off the rack as it was all I could afford.
Thanks for the suggestions and reminding me I have other options.
My Fedora grip is perfect. There is no way for me to grip it the wrong way. It is also very well mannered for such a quick bow.
Bear Montana
I second a Maddog! I also have a Lost Creek that has an amazing recurve grip. Both great options and less expensive than your two production models mentioned. My 2 cents..
Check out omega longbows. For the price they are hard to beat.
My only dog in the fight was a Montana. I really wanted to like it but it stacked for me. If you draw over 28, go longer.
Yeah there are so many good bows and Bowers you really need to shoot a bunch of them then decide what fits you the best. Here would be a few great bows to look at; Shrews,Two Tracks, Huron Longbows, Thunder Sticks, Northern Mist and St Joe River and the list goes on :) .Good luck on your search!
If your want a Long Bow with a recurve style grip check out the RER LX.
Kustom king has the 64 inch black forest deflex-reflex longbow for $332.

I had a Bear AuSable, but ended up selling it -- i prefer a bow that has more mass to it. If you want a contoured grip like a recurve, the Ausable isn't the bow for you.
My R/D fantasy is a 1959 Bear Polar with a buffalo nickel instead of a medallion.
