I got home from work in time to clean up some dirty arrows and take a few shots. Shot a few rounds from 50 yards, then moved up to 40. First shot was not too good, maybe 7 or 8 inches wide right(for all of you Buffalo Bills fans). On the next shot, the bow jumped out of my hand at the release and fell near my feet. I looked down, and this is what I saw.

String broke at the serving for he nocking point, which was tied on. No worries. Probably have nearly 10,000 shots on that string, lol.
Couldn't see any visible damage on the bow, but will find out more later this week. Figured that arrow was in the next county somewhere, so I walked up to the target to get my other arrow. Pretty surprised to see this. I will take that shot at 40 yards any day.

I guess all that is left is to give A.S. a call, lol.
Dang bro! Glad your bow is ok.
It is incredible the forces on a bowstring at the shot, many times the bows weight, hence the need for strong fibers. So glad you're ok Pat and the bow is in one piece. Sounds like its prolly just fine. Time to retire that string though.
Same EXACT thing happened to me this spring. I was also very surprised to see my arrow go to spot i was aiming for.
Just glad your okay Pat.
Wow glad you didn't get hurt pat...give Allen a call he will fix you right up!That could have been a disaster for you and the bow
Scary stuff! Glad you are good ...and glad the bow survived too! I saw a guy get a serious laceration across his face during an indoor league shoot when his string broke when settling in at full draw. Glad this was a much less painful outcome.
Yikes Pat....almost had to call Webby for another bow!
It's a good thing those Schafers are tough!! Glad you're ok
:scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: Dang Pat, glad you and the bow are ok, that is the main reason I change the string on my bows at least once a year if they need it or not. Would hate for that to happen to one of my bows.
Never had a string break, but I did have a limb pocket blow out at full draw one time. Smacked me a good one on top of the head.
Yikes, I'm going to change my string tonight :)

Jarrod, Pat contacted me last night. I'm heading to the Post Office with his new string now.
Glad your bow is OK Pat!
Glad your bow is ok. Never had a string break. I did have an early Asbel Bighorn come apart at full draw. The top limb smacked me in the side of my face, and the bottom limb hit me in the...well you know.
I have had a few bow limbs break but never a string ....
Tim, I only have a few left, Pat glad you and the bow are ok.
Glad everything worked out. I have had everything break at one time or another-just lucky I guess! :bigsmyl:
Pat, damn it! It just happened to me 1 min ago in my 63# Silvertip. Arrow hit the target but the bow was unstrung at the end. Thanks goodness I have a AS string ready
I love skinny but they require more inspections!
Allen, you are the best! How is that for customer service, boys?
Thanks for saying something, Jarrod.
Felix, I didn't mean to put a curse on you. You better send me that bow for inspection, lol.
Thanks Pat for your generous offer!!
I had a string break, but it was because I knicked it with a Snuffer and thought it was ok...it wasn't. Definitely scary!
Glad you and the bow are alright.
Webby, You POOR MAN... only a few left!!!!!
Hi Pat. I had that very same thing happen to one of my strings too.
Wow! Glad all is ok, that could have been a lot worse.
Havent had a string break on me yet...hope I never do! Glad u and the bow r ok!
I hate it when things break! I had 2 different strings break in an hours time at one of the biggest 3D shoots in the state a few years ago!
Glad there was no damage or injury.
Now, get after those pigs!
BIsch
Lol Bisch!!! I was thinking the same thing :biglaugh:

If you insist, but I am gonna have trouble getting much done until after my elk hunt.
Happened to me with my Pronghorn a few years back..bottom loop broke and the bow went flying. There was a tiny burr in the string groove. I touched it up with some sandpaper and re finished it..No worries. The bow was fine..yours will be too
I'm glad it didn't damage your bow, or worse yet, you.
Bob
Im glad the bow is OK. And you Pat. I just had an SBD break on one of my bows. No damage thank u.
I fully expected to see a dead hog when I opened this thread. And then I scrolled down very slowly, hoping your bow wasn't damaged. Glad all you lost was a string!
Best of luck with the elk hunt. I'm headed West next fall, and I'm busting my butt already trying to get in shape. Can't wait to hear about your hunt.
