For you guys that own this jacket, is it warm in temps in the 20-30's. It seems so lite compared to other jackets. I want a jacket that can be packed and put on when I stop from walking and be warm too. Any ideas or input would be great
I'll let us know as soon as I can try mine.
Stopped at the field and stream store in Rochester NY this pat weekend. Picked up a 90% jacket and pants on sale 75% off. Paid 130$ with tax.
I can't say I would have bought them if they were full price 269$ each. They do seem light but I hear good things
Can't speak to the 90% jacket, but I really like my Jet Stream except for one thing. It doesn't go on over some types of shirts very well- kind of sticks.
Having said that, I would buy it again. It is my favorite jacket so far .
No, you will want an insulation layer under such as the Kelvin vest to use the 90% jacket on stand in 20-30f temps.
NO!
I have had a 90% for about 7-8 years now. Alos have the pants. It is a great jacket and I wear it 90% of the time I hunt (the reason for the 90% name). It is a light jacket that is the top layer. To stay warm you need to layer under it or your freeze. Merino wool base layer, wool LL Bean shirt for most days, I can add a puffy for colder days and I also wear a Silent predator wool vest at times over it. If your looking for a single jacket to sit on stand to keep you warm your looking at the wrong piece of clothing.
Thanks for the reply's, I understand that you must put some layers on to be warm.
The 90% jacket is more like a light soft shell.
I like the jet stream with a kelvin or merino wool under it.
The kuiu guide jacket is also good.
if you're moving the 90% is good but I like the Jetstream better (I have both). If you're sitting on a stand than the fanatic is the way to go
Great products and customer service
My .02 cents.
I have a 90% set. I wear it a lot here in Colorado. ALMOST every day I hunt.
1. It is not water proof. It's hardly water resistant. I've gotten soaked wearing it in light rain. However I LOVE it for early morning When the tall grass here and leaves are wet with moisture.
2. Very good for acting like a wind breaker and extremely quiet and comfortable.
3. If I were sitting still in a stand. I would definately want more layers. Like the others have stated..
4. If you are walking, one light layer underneath would suffice but that's mountain hiking. If I sit on a watering hole or a wallow. I put a vest on before the sun starts going down. Cause I will get cold and start to shiver...
Good product over all. Just depends on the application.
