I am interested in a Brackenbury bow,any one have any experience with this bowyer. Is the quality up to par with other bowyers?
I Own and have owned several. I believe they are on of the very best. I have not ever had one complaint about any I have. Call Bill, he is great to talk to, and has always awnsered my questions.
Bill will do the very best in building you the bow you want. I know,,, he built mines just as I ordered it. If you give him a call he will help you in figuring out exactly what you want from your bow,,, just be prepared to talk for a while.

You can not go wrong with a Brackenbury.
I have one and sold one years ago that was to heavy. They are top notch bows equal to any other.
Call Bill Howland and talk to him. You won't regret it. Just be prepared to be on the phone for awhile. He is very knowledgeble and interesting.

I have a Brackenbury 1990. My first one was stolen, it was made in 1987. The workmanship is still there, great bows.
You will never be disappointed with one of Bill's bows, top of the line and outstanding customer service. Buy one you will like it.

Bill has some "traveling" bows. Call him to get on the list to receive it, you pay shipping, shoot it for three or four days, and then ship it to the next person on the list (or back to Bill).
I shot the traveling Non-Typical last week. I didn't want to send it on to the next guy. Not the fastest bow I've shot, but it was exceptional in every other way. Impressed me enough that I now have one on order.
" Once you go Brack, ya never look back !!! "
Bill Howland of Brackenbury bows is great to deal with.

Well, I have three Bracks and they are all simply works of art. In fact, all three of them are featured on Bill's website and in additon to being beautiful, are shooting machines.
Among my Brack's are a Phantom, Quest, and Non-Typical. Each of them is forgiving, truly customized to my shooting style, and throws an arrow like Cal Ripken throws a baseball!
You will not be disapointed when you receive a bow built for you by Bill. He is not only consummate in his craft, but also truly interested in his customers. And because he is an accomplished target shooter and hunter, he knows how to make us "regular folk" look good in the field!

I own one,and one on order,if I ever order another one, yep,it will be a Brackenbury again for all the reasons up above and more.
Bill is a pleasure to deal with.
Serge
I have one on the way. January seems to be the magic date.
I own 5 with a 6th on order. Enough said!
Brett
Can't go wrong with them. Mine may not be real flashy, but it shoots very nice (group at 25 yards).

Roy Joseph aka Tradbow,
Life is just to short to be so concerned about little old me not putting horn or antler tips on a bow!
I've seen you post this statement before but it seems you always forget to post the reason why I don't use horn or antler on my tips. I'm sorry you don't like the fact that I don't and others do.
I don't use horn or antler for this reason...When I first started Brackenbury Custom Bows I repair and replaced numerous tips that where put on older Bracks. The natural oils and acids in horn or antler like to eat away at the adhesives that we use to apply the tips. Which makes them fail. I try to build my customers the best bow I know how. Using a product or material that I know "may" fail is not acceptable. I know the product that I do use on tips is bullet proof...it's the same product the limbs are made of...fiberglass...it's extremely tough, water proof, dependable, and they look good to boot.
"Built to be Fast, Stable, and Built to Last" was Jim Brackenbury's original slogan. I try to carry out his Tradition as best as I can.
Thank you!
i like bills reply.sounds to me like he dont build junk.straight up answer.thats how everybody i deal with is.
Get'r done Bill  :clapper:
Brett
I have a bow on order, unfortunately I'm on the bottom of the list.
I'm sure it will be worth the wait!
There we have it : "a failure to communicate!" And you guys say I like to talk, Hmmmmm, seems I should have done a little more talking with Tradbow.
Tradbow now worries, my fault for not explaining my reasons clearly with you on the phone.
Brett, old buddy/old pal, tell us an elk hunting story. You must have gone to CO and been back for sometime now.
Bill builds a great bow.
I agree with him on the antler tips. Every bow I have had with antler on the tips have had the antler come off sooner or later. Most took a few years to do so.They sure look pretty though.

I know I've already wrote a very quick comment on Bill's amazing talent as a bowyer but I thought I would add on his ability to carefully listen to his customers.
Bill has lots of class but I think his main quality is he's just like one of us, a hunter making bows for other hunters !!!
Daniel and Sylvie
I have a Quest, terrific bow.
Bill is very easy to work with, does a beautiful job and stands behind his work 100%
I'd highly recommend getting one.
Bill owes me $1.50. I busted at LEAST that much worth of nocks when I shot the traveling Non-Typical. I hold him personally responsible -- after all, he's the one who built such a sweet-shooting, forgiving bow. The least he could do to compensate me is to let me take roknj's place in line for a new bow. (Jeff, you'd be getting your bow about Feb of 09. Okay, old buddy o' mine? GGG)
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :readit: ;)
best bows out there in my opinion. I own two quests and have a non typical on order.. Bill is a great guy who is always willing to answer any questions. He has me as a customer for life...
I'm down to one bow right now, or I'd let Knife River take my place. Woody, I'll be TDY in San Antone next week.
Just kidding about stealing your spot in line, Jeff! ;) I'll shoot you a PM with my number. Look forward to seeing you. :wavey:
I just want to say that after talking to Bill on the phone last week I sent in my deposit on a Quest. Bill is very informative. He asks good questions and also listens attentively, so the bowyer and hunter can come to terms on a bow that will fit perfect. Bill has my thumbs up!!
