Who has experience with these bows?
I have a friend who has one. Nice looking bow. It's a ILF recurve static tip something or another. I can tell it shoots real fast by watching him shoot it, but it's to heavy a draw for me to shoot.
Gracias de antemano

Kirk's bows are very nice. Not just excellent wood choices but quality build and much attention to performance. My Sasquatch recurve was one of the best shooting bows I've owned.
I killed my biggest "traditional" buck just a few months after receiving it. The bow and buck are pictured in my avatar.

I have had his hybrid and liked it a lot, sold it when I was short on $. Also have a Stealth model and it really shoots and performs well. I currently have his SS recurve with G-10 I-beam for extra mass/stiffness and really like it. She is really quick and VERY stable. I also have a set of SS ILF limbs on order and anxiously await there arrival. Love working with Kirk, he listens to you and adds recommendations you should listen to. His attention to detail and getting the most performance out of a shootable bow is what he shines at. They don't look to bad either. Yeah I like and recommend his bows.
-
I like hear more about the G-10 material ..
-
Bowheadhunter, go over to bigfootbows.com and click on bowyers notes and scroll down to Ibeam/G10.
As I understand it it is a heavy extremely strong material used as an I-beam to strengthen riser and add mass.
-
The top of the list! As fast as the fastest, and my Sasquatch longbow shoots unbelievably well. I've shot a lot of big-money bows, and Kirk's are better than all of them. I can't praise him enough.

I've bought and sold more different bows than I can remember, sold them all but one, Sasquatch with hybrid limbs...very fast, stable, totally dead in the hand and very quiet, I was at the Muzzy shoot this weekend and had a bunch of guys comment on how quiet the bow was.
-
I've had my Flatliner longbow for about 8 months or so and it is by far the best bow I've shot. In my 15+ years of shooting traditional equipment I've never shot a bow that performs like Kirk's bows. My first exposure to Bigfoot was through a fellow Kirk got me in touch with that lived close by. He handed me his Sasquatch and his arrows and I knew it was super quiet, smooth and very accurate but I wasn't that impressed with the speed of the bow. Seemed pretty close to my R/D bow that I had been shooting for many years. I was only after Dave had me shoot his arrow out of my bow that the light bulb went on. My bow was 2 or 3 pounds heavier and his arrows dropped like a rock out of my bow. I was hitting at least 12" low! Here Dave is a big fan of heavy arrows and those logs he was shooting were something like 12 or 13 GPP and I was shooting about 8 GPP out my bow.
Forget using the normal spine calculators with Kirk's bows as well. He puts such performance into his limbs you'll end up shooting a much stiffer arrow than what you think you should.
The performance is fantastic but not at the expense of comfort. His bows are super smooth and he builds them to your draw length so as he puts it, "nothing is left on the table".
You will not be disappointed with any of Kirk's bows.
-
The custom bow experience you get from Kirk is second to none, he really works with you to make the bow you want. Following the aesthetics of design, you also get a real performer; I have a Sasquatch LB and it is one of the smoothest drawing and on point shooting bows I have laid hands on. IMO it will not be a waste of time to at least get Kirk on the phone and bow talk a bit and see what you come up with. Pic is my Sas LB, mac ebony riser with bubinga I beam. I bought one of Kirks bows about a year ago after researching many bowyers across the Internet. Kirk seemed to be the most knowledgable person about the energy mechanics of a good bow, not to mention beautiful craftmenship. I own the Sasquatch SS takedown and was amazed at how light this bow is and yet it dead in the hand when I shoot. This is the first year that I was able to claim high score in our archery club for all traditional shooters. I'm sure I can attribute it to this bow. I would buy another bow from him in a second. He will spend the time to give you good straight forward advise. He has a wide selection of bows and one of them will fit your shooting style give him a try. His prices are very competitive too.
-
I've been shooting an original 3pc Sasquatch recurve since 2011. Kirk is a true custom bowyer in every aspect. He'll customize the grip to fit you and your shooting style.
Kirk also builds his bows to be draw specific, meaning that the bow will perform best at your given draw length.
I've never shot through a chrony, but do my own form of testing a bows performance. I've shot the Big Foot side by side with several other top end bows using 3 different arrows, wood, aluminum and carbon. Most all bows shoot about the same out to 20 yards, but back up to 35 or 40 yards and you'll see the difference in arrow trajectory.
The Big Foot is the flattest shooting bow I've ever shot.
Kirk is a top notch bowyer and an even better man....how can you go wrong with that combination?
-
Pat,
Kirk built a L/H "Custom grip" Sasquatch SS.
"BEST" Performance and Craftsmanship.
I'm now having to shoot R/H...Kirk is now in the process of building me a new R/H bow...... Dana

Kirk is a good guy and makes some very nice performing bows.
He'll customize it till your heart's content.
..makes em pretty too...

nice bow tight finish I see the different models on his wed site ,next bow for me would be a recurve ,I see he has 2 models I believe the model with the sharp hooks on the tips is that the fastest and smoothest model?
-
Pretty sure the statics are the fastest.
Not positive of the smoothest..but I've heard statics have a very sweet feeling draw that is unique to static tipped bows.
Send Kirk an Email.
He's great with communication and will answer your questions in more detail than I ever could hope to.
-
sure Z We do talk via email just asking some members here what they think also HEARD a lot good about his bows anyone have any problems I like to read the good and any bad ...
-
BHH, I believe the SS (static tip) is the quickest and certainly smooth. Your choice in 3 piece or ILF.
-
:bigsmyl:
Fast and smooth yes
-
I have 2 of his takedown Sasquatch longbows. One plain Jane for hunting and a less poundage fancy one for 3d shoots. Both were built exactly as I wanted with a little advice on Kirks part. Now I have a one piece static on order. I guess you might say I'm very happy with his work and you can't find anyone that is easier to work with. You will be happy with any bow you order or he will make it right.
-
I have the Sasquatch hybrid,it's a very very good bow, surely the best hybrid on the market.
-
I've got a set of ILF limbs on Kirks build list. Now the wait. I've done a lot of reading about Kirk and his bows and it's always positive .

I've spent a big part of the last two days doing the same. I haven't found anything negative yet.
Poked around the website some. Most of the technical stuff is way over my head, but it sounds real important. The pictures are fantastic!
Thank you all for the replies.
-
ILF be the way I would go,,
-
I don't understand all the tech talk either but what I can grasp from it all is he has his act together when it comes to milking every last drop of performance out of a set of limbs. All I know is arrows that were slightly stiff for my previous 50# radical R/D are way to weak coming out of a 48# bow that braces as a D shaped longbow. I don't know how he does but very glad he's got it figured out. I'm toying with the idea of getting a lighter, slightly longer bow for NFAA field shoots. Got to get with Kirk to talk that one over at some point.
-
Hey, not enough whatever...
You get to read that NFAA stuff I sent you?
I know, I know...not enough time... :knothead:
Looked rather complicated but simple...but then I wasn't reading it for me.
If'n you think that Flatliner can zing and arrow, you should get ole Capt'n Kirk to build you a SAS that meets NFAA specs and watch what happens!

I was just getting ready to post a thread asking about these bows ? All sounds very good. I have shot and owned about everything but one of these. Anyone know how long his wait is on a custom built bow ? Would really like to try a one piece longbow, but also interested in 3 piece takedown recurve ? I have a new pmax osage widow on the classifieds, just too much mass weight for me. I wonder how his 3 piece would compare with the widow ? Thanks for any imput and all the imput that's already here.
-
I like try his trad line one piece to go with my frontier 2 good bows from two good bow makers,,

Just guessing here, but I would think it would DEPEND on what woods you choose and if you get the G10 I beam, which makes it heavier.
My draw weight wasn't that high so I went with a wood I-beam on mine... I read he posted that it's not so much draw weight but the type of wood whether he recommends G10 to strengthen it all...
If you have some woods in mind, that'd be a question to shoot of to Kirk in an email...
-
Flt Rck Shtr, email Kirk, info on his website, bigfootbows.com. Very easy to talk to, I believe he is out of town this weekend but should be back next week. Tell him what your looking for and then listen.
-
I had a 60" 1pc Sasq.
I've yet to handle a bow that felt more solid/well built.
It's hard to explain the feeling.
Must've been partly a nice actual balance to the bow, but also the weight in the riser vs the lightness of the limbs.
The whole bow just felt "tight" in a VERY good way, solid and balanced....
-
Know what you mean some bows just seem to grow out of your own body ,SS static tips seem fast but bow builds are very confusing to me what riser to get etc ,looking more the way of your above bow Zradix 1pc Sasq. Than limb materials like is carbon/form core or wood? is it really worth the extra $$ to me its about lasting in wet/cold weather and staying stable looking nice is a plus ..
-
Love learning all I can learn here.
-
Kirk is a true professional and artist and a innovator for sure. He is great to deal with. I love me Sasquatch #55 @ 31" Shoots great, Shoots very quiet. No hand shock whatsoever. Awesome bow.
-
me quiet very important it means the bow is not being tore up with vibration guiet always meant a bow that lasted for years like my old buddy made 21st century's like cross bows for people that have health problem the Kodabows recurve cross bow is a real good one made in Pa no vibration and quiet ,Kirk going to go places word of mouth is great way to pass the good and point out anything u like see in future,
-
Quiet also means that the energy you pull back and put into the arrow is going INTO the arrow and not back into the bow and the shooter, same effect that you mention, Joe...
Bow lasts long, so's the shooter!
It's a painstaking process to not just balance the tiller on limbs, but to have both limbs working in harmony...take time and experience...
I'm sure lots of folks do all that on their bows, but there are some that do NOT and I know that Kirk does...luck of the draw for me after a few major disappointments on "customs" that the "custom" was limited to an ala carte take out menu choice of woods...
I like getting OUT Of my bow ( & into the arrow} what I exert drawing that bow... and I get a lot more return on my Sassy Lady Sasquatch LB then any bow I've ever shot...
-
Steve trad longbows look like my old 21st century's Nova/Edge of 1999s ,a longbow limb that was the smoothest and fastest I owned was 1999 21st century Eclipses I believe the spelling correct the limbs started out wide at handle and went very sq thin the last 12-14" to tips carbon backed I believe they would said to be modeled after 1000 year old bows that were found in Greece these Homer epic type bows and limbs were said to be very powerful at that time ,that 21st century Eclipse was 64# at 26" just got to be to much to pull after 10 shots... like to see Kirt or someone make this eclipse bow again they have a real winner on their hands.
-
Thanks for all the imput and info guys, greatly appreciated
-
Thanks for the PM's, Joe. As shared there, not quite sure why you'd want something from the 90's duplicated when materials and designs have moved so far forward since?
Somethings were likely advanced in that day, but if that's your heart's goal, maybe the big auction site(s) would have what you're looking for--where someone is willing to part with a working model of that era?
Me? I like what I got that is a reflection of current materials and design advances... but that is what's great about the "free enterprise system" --- whatever floats your boat!
Pays yer money and takes yer chances... :)

thought about that two things I am getting Big Foot bow after I thin the herd with some trades and things ,always wanted a super nice looking recurve at 45-48# for these old bones so I look at his curved sheep horn limb tips they look fast and smooth shooting, hard find a bow that holds up here in Sitka and Homer ,rain seems to destroy most everything will have work out with Kirk materials that will hold up here and finishes or maybe send the bow back once a year for post tune up and refinishing ,,
-
You cannot go wrong with either Bigfoot or Eagle Wing bows. I have both. My Sasquatch has both 42# and 50# limbs. The lighter ones are great if I'm going to shoot several hundred arrows in a day. I hunt with the heavier ones. Kirk will communicate with you until he knows exactly what will fill your wants and needs. And the quality of workmanship is outstanding, even in today's crowded field of trad bowyers.
-
I like get 40# limbs and 50-55 # If Big Foot can match to riser I see he makes two types of risers, one a International type riser that other makers limbs will fit ,might go that way as I was going try Alaskan Bow Supply are Carbon limbs in future ...and their carbon arrows,,
