Wondering how the hunting is there and fishing too. How mush public land is available to sportsman. Thinking about relocating there.
Western Ky is pretty good. There quite abit of public land and is good for hunting and fishing.
Eastern Kentucky has a lot of public lands too but not the greatest deer numbers.
Central ky is where it is at brother we have the agricultural to support Giants ..
Western Ky
LBL...170,000 acres...Ky and Barkley Lake
Pennyrile National Forest...13,000 acres and Lake Breshires
Higginson Henry...5300 acres...bow only...many turkeys...another larger productive tract not far from there
Several other public land's
Western Ky is heavily deer laden with quality bucks
I live in central KY. I don't hunt public land though. Lots of deer and liberal season bags.
If I had to relocate in KY it would be in the Bowling Green area.
What Friend said. Awesome state in my opinion.
Kentucky is an awesome state for hunting! A long bow season...healthy bag limits in certain zones...and lots of great public land hunting if thats what your after.
We got plenty of them big ol bucks roamin the woods too!!
I see where KY has an early season. Are there a lot of guys out then or do they wait until the weather cools down like here in NJ? Thinking of trying the early season next year in the eastern part of the state. Anybody from that part have any good recommendations for a particular parcel of public land to hunt? Any and all info greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave
Sounds interesting!
Our deer season along with turkey season runs non stop from about the 2nd weekend of September to about the 3rd weekend of January. If you wanna shoot one in velvet you need to hunt September. But most of the time its still warm. I usually dont hit the woods till October when the weather cools.
I know a bunch of folks that hit the opening weekend but temps in the 90s aren't uncommon. I usually wait until it cools off significantly.
Its definitely hot usually through mid October.

Kentucky is a state I am also interested in hunting. Illinois is still pretty good. IF you can get a place to hunt.....and that is a very big if! Good luck guys.
