Anyone tell me about this bow. I'm about to trade s Longbow for one. Just wondering if anyone has one still or had one. Thanks as always
I have had 2 of them, older one
and a newer one... both bows shot very good, decent speed and when set up right were very quiet...brace if I remember right was around 7 1/2-7 3/4 in..
I googled it, apparently a very nice shooting bow.
Thanks for info
They are fine bows just like all the of the Howatt/Martin line from the time period when Larry Hatfield was part of the company. I have one with a couple sets of limbs that I love.
When did they stop making that model bow
My first trad bow. Shot great and really quiet with my bad release. I sold it but i wisg i had it back
I've had a number of Martins and Damon-Howatts, including two Hatfields (one purchased new, the other used). Both bows shot well but both were prone to limb twist even with religious use of a bow stringer. Not sure how many times I had to 'bump' the limbs back on those bows, but I'll admit it did become annoying.
If you can keep the limb tips straight they're good shooters.
I have one - bought it a few years back when I first started shooting traditional. Its a really good production bow. Very Stable and hard shooting. Depending on what you a trading it would probably be a good choice.
ive had 2-3 of them, very good bows, the grip varied some over the years seems like the earlier ones had pretty "fat" grips on them.
I know they were still being made in 2007 because I almost bought a brand new one

Wrong...thinking back that would have been 2009 the year I got back into recurves

Here is a Pic of one of the old ones. I ordered it new from one of the local sporting good stores maybe 25 years ago. This model has 2 bearings at either end of the riser (4 bearings) for limb alignment. I have only had this one apart a handful of times since i have had it. This is the bow that i shoot the best with and the one that i take into the woods once the season is open. :)

The limb bolts on this older model add some stabilizing weight too.
I bought one in the early 90s and it was a good bow but if you had a longer draw length then 28" it stacked.
My draw is about 29" and it felt like I came up against a wall. Maybe the newer ones didn't do that.
I draw a little over 29" and no stack with either set of limbs. No trouble with limb twist either. Not sure when it was made though.
My favorite Martin/Howatt bow by far
