Had the old kodiak magnum out last night and shot a bit at 5 yards. Man it was so much fun and so relaxing. I doubt I'll be accurate enough by November to hunt so unfortunately I'll be out with a co.pound. having to go back to the training wheels is gonna suck tonight :(
It's a disease, I fixed two dozen arrows today and had to check to see if they were flying good. So for an hour and a half at 18 yards with, what started out as two dozen arrows, swing draw, anchor deep release, follow through, just to make sure they were flying good.
It's an obsession, and more rewarding and productive than any substance habit, LOL :D
Agree with all above. I was ready 15 min early for work this afternoon and just had to shoot in the driveway before getting in the truck. I shoot in the dark, in the rain, in the snow, in the..... well you get the idea. I've got a problem . :bigsmyl:
Yes very relaxing I been bless all my life with a good eye and arm/ range guessing,by throwing a base ball as a pitcher my dad aways had me hit the first batter in little league and throwing golf balls at golfers and hitting them most of the time from 300-400 feet away kinda fun watching them drop to ground when golf balls were raining down around them on the final green ,same as shooting a longbow bow I just shoot targets and deer I did out grow hitting golfers with golf-balls thank goodness.
Nice to let your brain become the arrow.
I agree as well and it's a good problem to have. No better way to relax then shooting my bows.
TSHOOTER, you do have a problem! It also sounds like you might have a target set up in the house to shoot at too lol.
I shoot my longbow nearly everyday of my life, and usually pout a little on the days I can't shoot!

I relaxed for another couple of hours this evening with my Morningstar. I am down to 15 arrows from that 2 dozen set. Oh well, something to do tomorrow.
shot some more arrows tonight, felt so good, cant wait for tommorow
:bigsmyl:
Go for it bro. I didn't feel comfortable my first year and hunted with my wheelie. Kept shooting and getting helpful tips off of the great guys on this site and at trad events. I haven't looked back and don't even own anything with training wheels anymore. That was 6 years ago and just enjoy the hang out of my stickbows. Good luck and keep at it...the obsession has just started!
I shot my KMag last evening as well. Good shooting bows as long as you keep focused - although I guess that's true for all of them! Think I'm going to hunt with it this year; it will be nice in the tree stands. Although the Grizzly wasn't too bad in them either.

I've had trouble quitting recently! It's just a great feeling. That being said, hunt with the equipment you feel most confident with.
When I made the switch I carried both my bows with me and just couldn't make myself carry the compound after awhile.
Doesn't seem to matter what kind of day I,'ve had, hard to stay wrapped around the axle over anything once I start shooting a bow..
A couple of years back, I talked a guy into hunting with a recurve, a 47 pound Grayling Bear Kodiak. He kept saying that he was going to hunt with his wheels because he did not trust his aim. I told him to draw it back like Fred Bear, anchor deep and let it go. He said that he did not know where to put the arrow. I told him that it was okay to see the arrow, but not okay to look at it, just keep going through the shot at ten yards until it all becomes natural. Then he said, "So you put the arrow higher on long shots? How much higher?" I told him to take a step back after every twenty or thirty arrows, starting at less than ten yards and "do not look at the arrow, you can see it well enough." One week later he came and was complaining that at thirty-five yards he would miss his deer target two out of six arrows, but at 25 yards he only missed once in awhile and most were in the kill zone, so he should maybe hunt with his compound. I told him that he was not going to shoot further than 25 yards anyway, sell the wheels to your buddy. He got a nice little eight pointer the second day of the deer season with his recurve, with a wood arrow and a Bear Razorhead with bleeder blades attached.
I'm going through withdrawal, I recently got married and moved and where I moved to I can't shoot my bow. So I have to pack up and head out to the cabin which is 19 miles away. I used to walk out my side door and shoot arrows everyday rain snow or freezing cold!
