Hello all,
I am going to Florida at the end of August and I want to try some bow fishing. I am thinking of using my own bow, Kiowa recurve. I am looking at a Muzzy retrieving system online for about $100.00.
Is this a good option?
Can I attache this system to my bow?
Any recommendations/suggestions are welcome. Thank you in advance.
I have never used it but I have an ams. I will 100% recommend these on my experiences, I've had it about 5 years now
I have used the AMS system since they first came out many years ago. I have had zero problems with it and would highly recommend it. They also sell a traditional mount kit that also works great. It'll be the last bowfishing kit you buy.
If your bow has a stabilizer insert in the riser then you can use the Muzzy kit, other wise you will need sight mount holes in the riser for the bottle kit or get a strap on adapter for it.
The Muzzy uses a smaller diameter line allowing you to get at deeper fish, which is always an advantage. On the other hand though, it does have more moving parts and are more adapt to problems. As others have mentioned, I also use the AMS retrieval bottle, and haven't had any problems that couldn't be fixed by shooting the line out of the bottle, and reeling it back in. In water where the fish are over 5 feet deep though, it is at its limit.
Thanks,
I'm a AMS fan as well. Been using one for many years with no trouble. My first retrieving real was an 808 Zebco. It worked ok, but my favorite is the AMS hands down.
Thank you all for your inputs.
