So I love my snuffers but am wondering how you guys get them scary sharp? I've been using in Arkansas what stone and been pretty happy but think I could get them sharper.
Also, does anyone know where I can get a large mill file? That's how I would prefer to start out just haven't been able to find one.

I just did 16 3 bladed heads last night. I take a piece of plexi-glass and lay a sheet of 220 grit sandpaper on the plastic after I wet the plastic and sandpaper (this makes the sandpaper cling to the plexi) I coat all the edges with black sharpie so I can see if I am getting 100% cleanup of any nicks in the blades.
Then I switch to 400 grit and then a large ceramic plate I got from a friend but a ceramic crock stick will work as well, you just need to run the head perpendicular to the crock stick.
If you cant get your hands on a crock stick, use 600 grit sandpaper and if you want, finish with 1000 grit.

I do it a pretty standard way. I use a file them ceric sticks. Can get them plenty sharp. Just gotta make sure you are putting pressure evenly on the blades.

I'd check with the sponsors here, if you haven't already.
If not, I would think you'd be able to find one at most hardware stores, or the big home/contracting places.

I use a 10 mil bastard file, apply 25 strokes per side then finish them on a stropping leather. For field use, I prefer the RADA wheel sharpner. Angling the head upwards, not straight through. All my Snuffers will shave hair but you need to put the time in.

I just use a 4 side diamond stone from Harbor Freight, start out with Snuffer mountd on shaft, run the coarse grit side over each side of head 15-20 times, then next grit and so on until you get to finest, then do those with just the weight of the stone on the head... after just strop on some leather, very, very sharp when finished..

I use a jewel stick to finish the edge. Quick and simple.

I know many say it's taboo but I've been using the Snuffer Tamer for many years w/ great and easy results. I've tried many other methods but I'm too sharpening challenged to get the results I wanted.

I have used the Snuffer Tamer as well, easy to use and makes them scary sharp.

I use the grinder. Fast and it works, if it's good enough for the Rothhaar's it's good enough for me.
