I have a young man that is interested in getting into traditional archery. I'm having some difficulty. He's looking for a 40/45 # longbow or recurve. He has 200-300$ to spend. Any suggestions ?
Yep, go to a WI trad shoot there are always tons of used bows out there. Horicon was this weekend, lots of bows like that for sale.
Are u looking for a righty or lefty?
Right hand, sorry I forgot to add that rather important detail
Used or Samik Sage.
A good used one
Get him a good used bow, moderate length for his draw (should find one for $150 max) then get him some good arrows matched to the bow. If you max out on the bow and skimp on arrows he'll be disappointed. Look for a 58" to 62" Bear Grizzly, Tigercat or Kodiak Hunter in the Bear line or a Browning or Red Wing Hunter. A Howatt Hunter would be a great find too.
Perhaps some blemish carbon arrows from Big Jim to go with it- he can help you with sizing.
Good luck.
I have a 70's model Bear Kodiak Magnum 45lbs at 28in draw good shape if that would interest him.
MADDOG ARCHERY
The Bear Montana can usually be had for a good price.
Maddog archery have the Prarie Predator for $250. I just got mine today and love it. That will leave budget for some arrows.
