I just returned home from a "Mission Fishin'" trip to Montana. The church I pastor is connected with an awesome church in Missoula called The Outdoorsman Church (If your in that area and looking for an authentic church, I highly recommend it!) Anyway... myself and 19 other guys spent a week doing construction projects for the church, helping with a sports camp and doing a bunch of fishing. The pastor knew I liked bowhunting so he invited me to bring my bow and chase some ground squirrels. What a blast!
I ended up with two... I lost count how many times I missed! Here's a few pics from the adventure...

I hope to make it back up there some September and hunt something a little larger! We saw this herd just a few miles from where we hunted squirrels.

Back in Oklahoma... missing the mountains, rivers and dry air, but deeply thankful for the experience.
I am fortunate to be able to shoot ground squirrels right on the grounds of the private school in my small community (my friend owns the school grounds)...I call it my local version of stumping...they are very good at string jumping and I tend to use slow, heavy arrows so I often find my arrow hitting where they used to be...still that would be a kill zone shot on a big game animal

Glad you enjoyed Montana and YNP, Tim. Nice shooting on the ground squirrels! I hunt them from time to time in the mountains near my home. It's incredibly fun. I went bear hunting this past spring. No bears but I had a blast shooting ground squirrels all afternoon. Actually there was a lot more shooting at them than actually shooting them. :D

Looks like very beautiful country, I hope to take my family to Yellowstone in the next year or two. Great shot on the ground squirrels maybe someday we can get together and you could give me a few lessons.
Tom- it was incredibly fun! And I fung a lot of arrows to get two. They are quick critters.
James- I stopped several times during the two hours we hunted and just looked around in awe at the breathtaking beauty! I would like to live up there someday.
Jason- you are just up the road... We should definitely get together sometime and shoot. I can give lessons on what not to do...
