Does anyone know if Lighted Arrow Nocks are legal to use in Quebec? Has anyone ever used them on the Trad-Gang Bear Quests?
Any thoughts on the use of them on evening hunts for Bear?
Tim,
I will check the Quebec game regulations,I DO have them in english which has been difficult to get for years !!!!! Lighted nock would be helpful in the thick boreal forest that is thick with Alders as well !!!
Good luck. I couldn't find any restrictions on them doing an internet search.
I couldn't find anything either. That is why I thought I would ask on Trad-Gang. I figured someone would have used them or had some thoughts on using them on a bear hunt in those conditions.
I think any restrictions on them are ridiculous at best, and bordering on unethical at worst. How can anyone be against something that assists in the recovery of a wounded animal, but does nothing to assist in the kill?
You didn't say whether your hunt will be during a special trad season or just bowhunting in general (including compounds).
IMO, battery-operated accessories have no place in a special traditional hunting season or areas restricted to primitive hunting equipment. It has nothing to do with being ridiculous or unethical and everything to do with honoring the premise under which special allowances for traditional/primitive weapons are established.
Regardless of whether good tracking skills or battery-powered sights/arrows are used, recovering the animal is always the hunter's responsibility.
It looks like I have to do my home work. I didn't know that Quebec had a Special Trad Season. I also don't know if the area that I will be going is restricted to primitive hunting equipment. I could not find that information on the primitive/traditional internet searches that I have done.
