I own a howatt hunter (1995 purple heart) that has the most comfortable grip of all my recurves. I am interested in a martin dreamcatcher and Hatfield takedown. I've never held either of these models so I'm wondering how close their grips feel to the hunter. Of course I plan to try them myself but am interested in feedback from anyone who has experience with them. Thanks in advance. Jeff
Never had a Hatfield but have had a Dreamcatcher.I thought it had a great feeling grip but sold it a couple of years ago. Can't remember the exact feeling of the Dreamcatcher. They are handbuilt I believe and will have slight differences in the feel.I have a 1998 Hunter and a 2008 Hunter. Both have great feeling grips, but feel the 1998 Hunter grip I like it more then the 2008 Hunter.I like them both, just that the 1998 feels alittle sweeter to me.I like the grip on Howatt/Martin recurves and have had a few.The Hunter's in the 80's with the actionwood risers felt alittle bulker.I also think it depended on the bow draw weight.Like my 70# Hunter the grip felt larger then my 50# Hunter of the same actionwood Hunter's from the 80's.
I have an older Hunter and an older Hatfield. I really like the Hatfield grip, it feels like there is a little less in my heel and palm so maybe it is a little bit of a Lower wrist grip than the Hunter. The Hatfield has been my go to bow for years. The Hunter hangs out up at Mom's place. If it were here i could do more of a comparison, visual and feel.
