Title: BW PCH Curious on what carbon shaft you would choose
Post by: Tedd on June 11, 2015, 09:47:00 PM
What gold tip trad carbon spine and front weight would you be using with a Black Widow PCH 57@31.  (drawn to 30.5"-31")

Thanks,

Go on to the 3rivers site and use their Dynamic Spine Calculator.  Fill in your bow info and adjust arrow length and points to find a match.
Real good place to start.  Leave the shafts a bit long and glue insets with the cool stick from Ferr-l-tite so you can remove them to trim the shafts to fine tune bare shafts.

Cut from the back when you bareshaft. Are you trying for a 10gr pp?

Tedd- I shoot a 62" SA with those same specs (55@31).  1) Like me, you will not have much variable in cutting them down. 2) I wanted to shoot 200-250 up front giving me a decent f.o.c. 3) My conflict came as I got "caught" between GT 5575 (.400) and 7595 (.300). 4) I was forced to go with CE Heritage 350s(.320) [and 250s are .375].  The .320 solved the "caught between."

I have had a sweet shooting arrow (bare shafts easily out to 30 yds!) with Heritage 350s @ 32 bop.  I use a 100gr insert with a 160gr head (260gr up front).  That makes a 670 grain arrow.

I really feel it is even flat shooting with point on at about 35 yds.

Hope that can help some

Thanks Dan, That is exact where I'm at.  Between spines. Almost got it perfect with .340s but my arrow is getting a little heavy with all the front weight. 400s seem like that would be way too weak but I ordered some.

If .340 spine is too stiff you may need to try those Heritage 250s which are .375 spine.

I am shooting the Heritage 250s out of my PCH with 260 up front, and they fly well with 51#@30". I would think you would need to go to the Heritage 350s.

I was thinking .340 or I recently discovered that some of the cheaper victory arrows come in 350.  Heritage at .380 could work.  Or call up surewood and grab some 85-90

I'm shooting 3555s out of my PCH, mine is 51# @ 28".  I draw 27", my shafts are cut to 28 1/2" with 225 grains up front and have great flight. I can also shoot the same set up with 5575s. Also my bow is 60", I prefer the 3555s as they seem a little quicker to me, not sure why, because my overall arrow weight is pretty much the same between both size shafts.
