The Belcher longhorn is a great bow. The Longhorns were originally made by Jeff Massie of Texas. When Jeff got out of the bow building business, he sold the tooling to Belcher and worked with him to get him started on the longhorns. Belcher had been a bowyer for many years before he took over the longhorn. I have 3 of the Massie Longhorns and my wife has one of them. I have taken many deer, pigs, javelina, and African Plains game with my longhorns. I'm not familiar with the others

Don't know about the first 2 bowyers but Steve (Sixby) on here Eagle Wing sure seams like a great guy to me. More than willing to answer me when I pm' him with questions. Haven't had the pleasure of shooting any of his bows but I'm pretty sure KirkII (Bigfoot) has done some testing and reviews of Steve's bows. I've also had nothing but good dealings with Kirk and I'm sure he could give you more info on Eagle Wing Steve.

Good luck,
Cory

I'm a huge fan of Eagle Wing Archery.  Sixby is, indeed, an artist when it comes to building a bow.

Mine is not a longbow, but I have no doubt his longbows are just as excellent.

Here is a link to a thread about it:

If "Al-Trad" is Al Kimmery, He's well regarded locally here in western Oregon, seems to make a nice bow, and has worked with other local bowyers like Wes Wallace.  I don't have one of his bows, so I can't speak to the shooting experience. He's evidently more of a phone person than a computer person, so a call will probably get you further than an email.

I appreciate Bro. Kirk and others for their reccomendations and appreciation of my wonderful personality. Tongue in cheek. But I really do appreciate it. Joe is living my dream and even offered to let me stay in his new cabin and moose hunt. What a deal . I wonder how many bows that is worth? I bet a bunch.
The new bow is a model I have not even put on the market but have built and tried several of them. My max length is 54 and I am testing the 52s which is what I designed the bow to be. I don't believe anyone is building a 52 in hybrid 2 piece takedown but someone may be and I just don't know about it.
It seems to me it would be a perfect bow to pack in and hunt wild country or as a blind bow. Amazingly this little bow shoots like a big bow. I wonder if the static tips have anything to do with that? Maybe so. Anyway I am loving mine and between the Temptress I got from Pearl Drums and this new bow I have got my hunting season taken care of. BTW I am thinking some mac ebony is going to be involved in this bow for Joe. Anyone like mostly black bows? He says not fancy but hey. You all know me. I just can't help myself.,

God bless, Steve

I just want to put in a good word for Al Kimery of Tradition-Al bows. I have one of his 64" recurves and couldn't be happier with it. First, Al is a really nice fella and very easy to talk to and very helpful over the phone. Al's bows are very reasonably priced, especially considering the quality and performance of his bows. His workmanship is excellent and the recurve I have shoots great: smooth, fast, and accurate. It's one of those bows that is hard to put down. If your in the market for a new bow take a look at his website and give him a call. You won't be disappointed.
