A while back I was looking for a two piece longbow to take along when chasing goats and sheep. Abe Penner of Caribow was passing around a two piece recurve about that time and I made the mistake of shooting it for a week. Consideration of any other bow was quickly dismissed.
Early May 2014 my wife suggested I phone Abe and place an order. Today, at 2 pm while I was travelling to conduct a site visit for work my wife sends me this text:

The next three hours were a little torturous :banghead:
I tore home as soon as I could manage and after kissing my wife and telling her how beautiful she is and how much I love her, proceeded to unbox my first ever, made for me custom bow.

A two piece fatherhorn. Yew core and belly, kingwood back, beaver tail grip, cocobolo riser.

love the shape of the grip!
I also had him add a little something special for me to think of on those lone, arduous alpine hunts; (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/VIArcher/IMG_80871_zpsfjvon6mo.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/VIArcher/media/IMG_80871_zpsfjvon6mo.jpg.html)
I didn't give Abe much direction for the bow either than the yew and the wood burning. I left back veneers and riser selection up to him. That kingwood suits the yew well and cocobolo and yew are best mates.
Best of all, with some tapered fir shafts she is a real shooter!

Thats a beauty! Congrats!
Very beautiful bow! I really like the wood burning.
Yes us Canucks can build some beautys LOL That is drop dead gorgeous.
Great Looking Bow! Out of curiosity, what type of connection does he use?
Best of luck chasing the goats..
It looks like you two are going to get along just fine. Congrats on the new bow.
Hi Murray! Your Featherhorn looks awesome! Can you throw a couple more pics of it up in it's two piece state?
Beautiful. My 2pc Slynx is in the mail now. I also had Abe do an inlay on my limb as well.
Just beautiful. The Featherhorn is a fine bow.
a few pics of the takedown system as Joe requested:

It is a rock solid connection and the "alignment pins" shaped in the side are a nice touch. I am a bit of a cabinet maker and have constructed my share of mortise and tennon joints, handcut dovetails, etc. I appreciate the time and attention to detail in creating a tight fitting, smooth joint. The bow is noticeably faster than my previous bows and I cannot wait to play with a few different arrow setups and really dial something in for the fall.
