Those of you who have followed 5 Pines farm know that 2 years ago I purchased one of R0man's 3 pc Bobcats. That bow is a simple affair of Osage and Cocobolo. The year following I had Roman build me a set of recurve limbs for it.
That riser and limb combos have put 5 deer in the freezer the last 2 years. I love the way that bow hunts.
I have a moose hunt this fall and decided I wanted one of his Bobcats with static tips for this hunt.
I requested dark woods and something with a bit more mass in the riser.
The bow arrive last week just in time for the final week of turkey hunting here.
The Brazilian Rosewood handle with just a bit of Ebony is beautiful to say the least. The Cocobolo Veneers on the limbs is the Reddest I have ever seen! The heft of it is lovely in the hand.
This bow is very smooth and quite fast! I think the moose are going to be I trouble.

No turkeys gave me a shot this last week but the bow looks great in it's full battle gear!
Beautiful bow jim Best of luck with it hope to see a big moose on the ground with it!
That's a sweet looking rig.
Very nice. I too have fallen in love with a static tip recurve... happens to be a Jack Kempf Kwyk Styk. I bought a used one and like it so well, I've got one on order.
That is a beautiful bow!
Static's are Awesome!!!
I also have the static tip fever. I purchased a Tuktu EX last year and it has quickly become my favorite hunting weapon. I wish Abe made a silver fox model with static tips for traveling as that would be a no-brainer.
Still love my longbows but these static tip recurves, for me, just shoot best.
those Jack Kempf bows will be collectors items. beautiful work , better hang on to them unless they are left handed then you can sell them to me!
Thats a beauty! Congrats!
i love them too- i have one from Mark Daniel- with radical tips, and string bridges- i just love it- a three piece that doesnt weigh a ton, and shoots blisteringly fast :D
Nice Jim,
How do static tips compare to your normal recurve tipped limbs? Same wood cores and poundage?
That is a great looking stick! I've been wanting to try one of these real bad. What are the specs? Length of the riser? And can we get a full draw pic?
Beautiful Bow Jim. I wish you the best on your up coming moose hunt and the story to follow.
I like static tips, Have a RER, Stalker, and 3 sets of ILF Dryad limbs. Taking the ILF rig on a bear hunt in 2 weeks. Great looking bow Jim.
Beautiful bow Jim, best of luck on the moose hunt.
Moose are on my short list! :bigsmyl:
Nice looking bow, good luck on you up coming hunt. Sounds like a great adventure.
The Bow looks great Jim.
I look forward to hearing about your moose hunt. Best of Luck!
I am so jealous, I can't seem to be able to get a set of statics for my Bobcat. Now that he added that little swoop to the riser, I might have him make me a new riser as well.
That's a beauty Jim.
I started a second job a couple months ago to help send my daughter through college, so I didn't get to see this bow before it was sent out.
That is a really good looking bow.
Forgot to add best wishes on the Moose hunt to my previous post.
Hope you get a big'un!!
Be sure to let us all know here.
Sweet bow, Jim! I think the Moose are in trouble!
Very nice!
Sweet bow.
I am glad I am not a moose.
John
man, what a sweet looking bow. What is the length?
Nice bow Jim. Still have that static self bow? That was a sweet one too.
it is 56 inches and 47 lb at 27 inches. Shot it till my arm fell off yesterday at the Chippewa Falls WI traditional only shoot.
Here is a group of arrows from my buds and I from 25 yards out. My 4 arrows are the red and turkey 3 inch feathers on the CE 250's
I like the way this bow shoots.

Looks awesome, Good luck on the Moose Hunt!!
Roman now has a couple static recurves in stock and will have them at Denton next month. Looking forward to shooting them.
Real nice! I don't usually like the look of those reverse risers or whatever you call when limbs are mounted like that. I like that 1 a lot. Real sharp!!
That's a great looking bow Jim! I love the dark color and the heavier mass in the riser. Good luck with your moose hunt this fall! :clapper:
Bernie
Very nice!!!!
I keep considering static tips from Roman. Beautiful bow. The Bobcat is a fabulous bow.
Congrats!
Excuse my ignorance. What is a "static tip"recurve?
There are basically two types of 'recurve' limbs. Dynamic, or working tips, and static tips. With working tip curves, the recurved hook opens up or unfolds during the latter part of the draw cycle. The profile of the hooks from unbraced to braced to full draw will change, sometimes dramatically. While a static tip hook does not open up during the draw cycle. The three above mentioned profiles will be identical or close to it. Both designs have their benefits, but generally speaking, a static tip will shoot quieter. Do a quick search here, and you'll find tons of info on static tips.
Love it !! Beautiful bow
