Many of us have been injured and couldn't shoot our bows for a while (horrible feeling), and now I am there again myself. Nothing major, I just need a month or two for my bicep tendon. Anyway, I got a Cold Steel Big Bore blowgun and it's really similar to trad archery in some ways. I'm not sure how much it will preserve my archery skill, but I think it will, and it's a sufficient "fix" to get me by. Everyone heal fast and stay healthy. Terry, if you delete this, I understand.
I hope you heal fast.
I myself have been dealing with a sore shoulder and have not shot much due to it. I try to stay sharp by working on my focus. I simply pick out random objects and try to focus on it.
They are fun and traditional.
Just make sure blowguns and their ammunition are legal to own and use where you live. They are not in some places (like California, Mass, District of Columbia, Canada).
I'm going nuts after my stroke trying to pull and aim with an affected arm and eye. Not quite sure what I'm gonna do.
I have shoulder surgery next month....I am not looking forward to having to sit out for a few weeks.
Thanks guys, best wishes to all.
This could be a learning experience for you, since you really shouldn't be using your biceps when you pull the bow. Certainly not recommending that you rush it, but when they give you the okay to start shooting the bow again, I would imagine that your bicep will be quite sensitive for a while. Use this sensitivity as a signal that you ought to be relaxing your bicep and pulling with your back.
Artic Hunter, think months, not weeks, lots of months. I had shoulder surgery and can shoot a 38# bow after 4 months, hunting weight bows are way off in the distance.
I had my lower bicep tendon re-attached in late Jan. I can now easily do 5# curls, 15 reps 2x a day. Take time to heal like Eric said.

I didn't want to hear that lol. I need surgery on both rotator cuffs.
I've put it off for a long time, and It's catching up with me. I can't shoot more than a few arrows a day. If I over do, I end up not being able to shoot for weeks.
It's stupid to keep putting it off. I can't shoot a lot now anyway, but the thought of missing out on my hunting depresses me. I guess I'm eventually gonna have to face the facts.
Good luck Terry. I hope you, and the rest of you folks that are having problems heal fast.
Bob
Most things, be a blessing or a curse, depends on what you make of it. Busted a rib march 6, got ambushed by a cedar stump. One of the rare wipe outs that made me real thankful to be able to stand back up.
Was expecting a new Wes Wallace Royal to show up middle, end of March. Had thought to be in fine form when it showed up..
Bow arrived early April, maybe took two shots with the recurve prior to that. Was feeling pretty rusty when I got it.
At this point, I,'ve been shooting the Royal every day since I got it, gettin to know that bow pretty well. Looking back, kinda suspect that starting sorta fresh on the long bow worked out well, let me get to know that bow, learn to shoot all over again, rather than tryna shoot it like the recurve.
