I see everyone footing carbon arrows to stump with. Since I shoot a 2016 aluminum arrow, do I need to foot them or is this something only done on carbon arrows. If I do what size aluminum fits over a 2016.
Thanks
I have double footed carbon arrows, so I suppose it has been done with aluminum. Haven't tried it myself but it seems it would strengthen the front of the arrow. A 2216 or even 2213 should work.
I foot my 1820 aluminums. I thought the extra weight up front would make them a little lighter in spine, but the opposite happened. The footing essentially made the shafts a little "shorter" and thus, stiffer. They sure are durable, though. Give it a try!
I have spliced extra lengths onto my aluminums that have been badly bent or broken by inserting a length of smaller shaft and epoxying the two pieces together. If you are so inclined it may work to strength the tip. Take a 2 1/2 to 3 inch section of 17 or 18 diameter shaft and insert it into the end of your arrows with some JB weld.
Ron, What do you foot 1820s with, what size shaft? Thanks!
2016 should work on an 18 diameter shaft.

Off the top of my head I was thinking I used 2114s, but that might have been for another shaft. I'll check my 1820s for sure when I get home.
I foot my 2016s for stumping with 2215s I think. I cut my actual arrow about 3/4 of inch shorter (The height of the insert) I keep the insert in the footing, slide the footing onto the actual shaft and the actual shaft acts as a stop. been shooting 6 arrows for stumping for about 2 seasons without a bend.
Or you might try a 2013. If you can find any. But broken 016 should be easier to come by.
016 should be 2016. Damn keys are sticking.
