One of my good friends who is an accomplished compound shooter decided to try my long bow about 3 weeks ago. After about 20 minutes I decided to get him one of our spare recurves and he needed to kill a bear with it. After just 3 weeks off the wheels he took this awesome black bear...pretty sure the hook is set!

That's nice bear and I can't see a better way to introduce them to trad.
Sweet! If that doesn't do it, I don't know what will.
Nice bear, congrats to you both. :clapper:

Nicely done! To both of you of course :clapper: looks like a solid hook set if I ever seen one.
Yup, looks like no turning back for him.
Wow, beautiful bear, is that spare bow a Silvertip or Tall Tines? :clapper: Denny

it's a bear's paw, made by Neil Jacobsen, 55# @28"
That's pretty cool!
Congrats to the hunter!

I can see much satisfaction on both your faces.

That's awesome ! :clapper:
Wow, 3 weeks in and he takes a bear?! The wind just left my sails! Haha thats awesome, I always hope for the newer trad shooters to get early success. I'm hooked and have been so for quite a while. An empty freezer won't change my mind. Thats a great looking bear too!
Read the story elsewhere, heck of a good one. Ask him to join and share here. Congrats, beautiful bear!
Congrats to him on a purdy blackie!
Excellent.
Great job Tyler and to your "Brother" of the bow.
Thanks guys, it was a very special experience. Even though he had essentially never shot a trad bow, he picked it up surprisingly quickly...mostly because he knows how to build a repeatable shot sequence...throw in a tiny bit of coaching, and now he's going to order his own!
