Title: Strap on bow quiver placement
Post by: jbpharmd on May 07, 2015, 07:26:00 PM
I just got my new strap on bow quiver for my One piece longbow. Where exactly should I place it on the bow? Does it need to be at the spot where the riser wood "fades out" into the working part of the limb? or should I put it onto the riser so as to be sure that performance will not be effected? Or does it matter all that much and I can just get it close to the transition from riser to bow limb? Any suggestions?

The straps should be just slightly into the fade outs so they don't affect the performance of the bow.  If they're outside the fade-outs, they do affect limb movement.

Thanks guys! So as long as I have the entire strap on the riser wood I should be good.

Although your question was answered, I'd add that when I used one I found it necessary to sort of tune the bow to it, which is poor wording. Really, you end up adjusting it until your bow shoots like it did without it. Some bows perhaps are not as effected by one, but mine both were.

The ends of the fadeouts flex with the limbs, so I feel it best to mount the quiver well into the fades.  I figure the fadeouts should be at least 1/8" thick and preferably more at the ends of the quiver mounts.  I'll try to get a pic posted later today.
