Title: Louisiana Traditional Bowmen's results are posted
Post by: DanielB89 on May 05, 2015, 01:38:00 PM
This weekend Bisch(Bisch) and Rusty Horne made there way to LA to come take all of our plaques.  Corey Bailey(Basinboy) and I said we were going to do our best to stop them.  Needless to say, it didn't happen.  Bisch had an off weekend, but still took home some hardware.

I first met Rusty last year at my 2nd ever archery tourney(Sterling Harrell) and needless to say, he whipped my BUTT!!! I had never seen anyone as consistent as him.  I mean he was 59 years old, shot every category he could and placed top 3 in everything he shot.  Well after the Texan coming in and taking everything home, I told my self I was going to get him next year(this past weekend).

Last year Rusty got first in MR, TR, ML and 2nd in TL(I managed to beat him, but he also missed 2 targets, lol).

This year Basinboy and I did are best, but Rusty still went home with the "Sterling Harrell" award, which is a 1 piece longbow with wood arrows).

Here are the results for the classes, if you're into target archery.

I've never shot a 30 target course for score, but I know that's some darn good shooting between you and Bisch!

What's the difference between the modern recurve and a traditional recurve class?

Hey Daniel, it's Sterling Harrell, not Sterling Harold!

I was a bit off this weekend, and must have been drinking to shoot Traditional Longbow with the wrong bow (did not know 3pc bows were not allowed and that round was DQ'ed, but I did get to shoot it again with a legal bow) and then shot my selfbow round from the far back stake when I was supposed to shoot it from the next closer one!

Oh, well, that's why there is a shoot coming up soon that I can make it all up at!!!

Nice meeting you there Daniel, and Corey, and Todd, and others as well!

Modern recurve is carbon and aluminum arrows. Traditional Recurve is wood or bamboo arrows only.

Ahhh thanks! I was thinking it had something to do with the shape/style of the bow, not the arrows.

Now you guys have got me wanting to find a tourney around here...

shreffler, 3D is a blast! A game that you can play with your bow! And you meet a lot of great folks too!

I'll bet my bottom dollar that there is a shoot within driving distance of you, maybe not this weekend because of Mother's Day, but certainly next weekend.

Give it a try, and you will see how much fun it is.

I go to multiple 3D shoots during the summer, but none of them are tournament style. I'll have to check around for one near me that is more geared towards keeping score.
