(http://i886.photobucket.com/albums/ac67/peastes/IMG_1761_zpspbzgcky0.jpg) (http://s886.photobucket.com/user/peastes/media/IMG_1761_zpspbzgcky0.jpg.html) Since getting home, I have hunted turkeys the last four days. The gobblers are all henned up; won't respond to calling other than gobbling their brains out. So, it was ambush time. A good flock has been heading into the same field every morning, and today they got close enough for a shot. The result is the jake in the picture. He was centerpunched, but as turkeys often do, he ran off, arrow out both sides, and being pecked and bothered by his buddies. They entered an open field, and I cut them off, finding him still alive but down. A second arrow finished the job. It felt good to be in the woods, turkeys and deer everywhere, and this one now in my freezer.
Congrats!!!
Way to go centaur!

Always enjoy your posts man. Congrats on the Turkey. It is amazing how tough they are.
Good job, congrats! It's nice when a bird comes right in to you, but I think It's even more rewarding when you have to plot and scheme, and be sneaky to make it happen.

Yeah, they are all henned up here too. I've had some fairly close encounters, but no shots. Located a couple new to me Toms this morning. Will be after them tomorrow morning. We can only hunt them until 1pm.
When you wrote that the jake ran off with the arrow sticking out both sides and his "buddies" pestering him... I thought, with buddies like that, who would need enemies. :knothead:
