Our daughter came home from CO for a long weekend so we headed to the mighty Mo river for a little bowfishing!! It's good to know that she still likes to shoot fish with the "ole man" lol

That's great, Steve! I'm in no hurry to rush it, as my little girl is only 6, but I do look forward to her being big enough to participate in some fish shooting. We bring her all the time and she watches patiently. But she did ask me today when she was gonna be old enough to bowfish.
Great times
Shag, my daughter shot fish with me when she about that age and then school, boys, sports then more school got in the way for a few years now that that seed called trad archery that I planted is finally starting to sprout!! They may leave for awhile but they always seem to come back to there roots! Gotta love it.

Good to know that buddy. Evey (my little girl), when she was 4, all she wanted to do was shoot bows, guns, anything. Now that she's started school, she isn't very interested in practicing shooting in her free time until she sees me and Rachel bowfishing. Then she wants to join in. She shoots the Little Bear recurve, that I had when I was a kid, pretty well but it's only about 12# at her draw. I told her she's gotta shoot a little more to build those muscles. She really does look forward to it.
I sincerely hope that I can make some treasured memories with her one of these days, as you have made with your daughter.
Looks like fun!
Great pictures, Steve! I bet that was a pretty special day on the river.
I like how you modified that trolling motor.
Cool stuff.
Nice, bro!
You are so fortunate to have a daughter who shares your love of the bow.
Awesome!
I like it. Good shooting on some nice fish. Bree and I did some of that this weekend as well. The way your Daughter shoots I don't imagine you get to kill many yourself. :bigsmyl: She is one good shot.
Know the feeling. My daughter is home after an extended spell working abroad, and we're enjoying shooting our longbows together every evening we can.
That looks like fun!

Nice! I enjoyed your pictures! :clapper:

Thanks for the pics and story...
and congrats on the success (with the fishing and especially the daughter)!!
Stay close to family, they are one of God's greatest blessings.
Excellent Steve!! What is the fish youre holding, a bighead?
Steve,
Thanks for sharing the pictures and story, looks like a great time...!
Pat
That is wonderful!! I know you're one proud papa!!
I cannot think of a better way to spend the day!
Fantastic; my daughter shot with me as she was growing up. She's in Houston now but is coming for a few weeks this summer and is going to be around to shoot a match with me. Special times they are.
That's a beautiful thing Steve. Looks like a great time.

Yep Kenny that was a Bighead/Asian carp. The Missouri is loaded with them they'll get upwards of 50-60# still looking for one of them big boys!

That's what I thought, I gotta get down to the big muddy and try some of those! Any tips on locating the beggars?
We generally find them just below the wing dykes in the slacker water. We're getting hammered with big rains here now so the river is REALLY muddy might be a few days before its even navigable. Maybe we can meet at Rulo, NE sometime this summer and spend the day tryin to find them!

As a father of an 8 year daughter I could only wish she'll do those things with me when she's older. She goes with me now and usually more that my 10 year son and I hope she will continue.
It's always good to see the ladies enjoying the outdoors with their father.
Nice!
I never had kids. My girlfriend has a son that I think of as my own. He's in his mid 20's now. I've taken him out shooting, given him bows and guns, and tried to gently nudge him in the right direction without cramming it down his throat, but he just isn't interested. I think it may have been different if I could have started with him earlier.
I do have two young grandsons that can't get enough of shooting bows and BB guns with grandpa. They watch for deer and turkeys wherever they go, and report their whereabouts to me. They both tell me they want to hunt with me when they get bigger, and I just hope I live long enough to see it happen.
I envy you folks that are able share your love of hunting and the outdoors with your kids. I hunted a lot with my Dad, and some of my best memories were made doing it. Looking back on it now, I'm sure some of his were too.

very cool ! Love when the kids come home for a visit.
