I shoot Hildebrand Sitka Spruce and really like the quality and was wondering how his Doug Fir shafts are compared to Surewood,as I am not sure if there is a difference in the milling process of the different woods.Thxs for any info
Their D Fir is very good quality as well.
A round shaft milled from properly cut stock is... a round shaft milled from properly cut stock.
I've used Hildebrand's Douglas fir shafts and found them to be quite good.

I have been to their workshop in Port Angeles last year. They use very sophisticated milling and doweling machines and between husband and wife have about 60 or 70 years experience working with wood. I learned more about wood and shafting in the 2 hours I spent with them then in the last 3yrs I have been making arrows

We folks here in the NW have no complaints at all about any of their shafts. Buy w/o worry.
fletched some yesterday they are nice shafts, I think hand straightening them was a waste of time before dipping I had to roll the grain to get them more perfect for me, they are tough I can't wait to stump with them.
