Can anyone tell me where I can order some of these? RMSG has only 1pk in stock - I would like to order several 5 packs.... if not a sponsor feel free to PM me. Thanks, guys!

You can cut nipples of baby bottles. They work great and are clear. Just a suggestion.
I think I got a buynch of them from Kustom King a few years back
Would dipping the bow tip in liquid plastic, like for tools, or liquid tape, like for over electrical connections hurt the bow ? They have certain solvents in them, so not sure.

Big Jim has them.

Thanks for the alternative ideas, but I'm looking for these specifically.... they are the very small ones that only cover the tip, but not the string at all. I think I originally got mine from KK too, but I don't see them there, Jim's are different too....
Any other sources out there?
R
I don't have a clue where to find them, but if you do find a source, I would love to know where. I need that same thing!
Bisch
I would be interested as well. I have been cutting the big ones down to fit my WesWallace LB. I turn them side ways so they fit over the antler tip overlays.
Not the same but probably the same material. I use these from 3 Rivers. You could cut them off. They stay put for me and seem to stick too. A bugger to get off when you want to. Not exactly what you're looking for. Just a thot.

Kustom King has them on page 31 of their latest catalog, the one with Ron La Clair on the cover.
I haven't been a fan of the shiny vinyl protectors, so I buy the all-rubber ones and cut them down short enough to just protect the tip. They fit tight and I have never lost one in many years.
Cut them at an angle, from back to belly side, so your string is not trying to push it off, and the back side covers the string groove to hold the string in place when unstrung.
Thanks for the info, guys. Looks like these are a victim of the old "if they make something you like, better buy a bunch, 'cause they'll soon quit making them".

Not at Kustom King on pg.31....Dave MP
The last one I took off had water in it not a good thing to have your bow tip soaking in . I would never put vinyl or rubber tip protectors on my bow.
Item # 4763 Mini bow tip protector on page 31 of my newest catalog 3.50 per 5 Kustom king, unless I'm freaking seeing things! better look again Dave.
northern lights, You're absolutely right. They are in the catalog. The're so small I didn't see them. ...Dave
Ryan - You happen to know what company manufactures? Haven't seen little ones just over the tips and not the string groves, but you have me now interested in them too...
I called Kustom King and she told me that they are discontinued. Bear Paw from Germany was the source. She said that KK sold a lot of them, but they aren't being manufactured now.

I agree with Tim, good source to trap moisture.
I use the leather ones, when moisture is present
you will see it in the leather.
Hi Ryan,
Your local home depot or Lowes has these plastic screw protectors that work great as bow tip protectors. I can get a pack of three for about 75 cents. The 3/8" size fits nicely on Toelke bows and I have found that 1/2" size fits good on most other bows. I posted pictures of this in another pow wow thread here: http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=135650;p=2
But Tim is correct. If you use these, make sure they are not storing moisture. Maybe poke a little hole in them.
Steve
Steve, thanks for the heads up on the screw protectors.... looks like a winner, guess I know what I'll be looking for next trip to town!
One of the reasons I like the mini's is they are easy off when it gets rainy and small to stick in the pocket... and lose ....hence why I wanted several packs :)
R
They look just like the ones I use on all my bows. They are from BW and then use a Fiskars scissors. Never have seen them for sale that short.
The screw protector idea looks great to me.
Yep - been using the screw protectors on my bows for over a year now and no problems. They stay put on the shot and pop off easy when you suspect moisture. Good luck to you Ryan.
Steve
Yep, I'll be headed to the big box store in the morning!
Thanks for a great idea!

Ok, I went to HD today and found the screw protectors. All of my Sarrels bows take the 3/8" size. These are perfect. The only complaint I have is that they are bright yellow. Sure would like to find this size in grey or black. I will have to look around to find a better color that goes with my bow.
Here is my longbow:

And my recurve:

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.
Bisch
Bisch,
The 3/8" ones at Lowes are green. Just bought 2 packages of those and a package of 1/2" gray ones. I suspect the gray ones will go back.
homebru
Yeah, I'll be headed to Lowes this week!
Bisch
Yep, got back from Lowe's a couple hours ago, bought gray 1/2 inch ones.... fit perfect. I saw the 3/8 in green ones and thought of you, Bisch...was gonna tell you to PM me your address and I'd send you some.... hate to see any self respecting guy with those canary yellow ones. A black magic marker would probably fix that too....
Thanks to all...!
R
I thought of the marker idea, but concluded that it would look even worse after it all started rubbing off!
Went to Lowes today and got the green 3/8" and the gray 1/2" ones. These are sized smaller than the ones from Home Depot, and work way better, not to mention, I got rid of that atrocious canary yellow one!

Bisch
Looks like a winner Bisch! Hope they work out good for ya.
Steve
You can also cut the rubber ends off old tools like pump pliers. They also work.
Never thought of old tool handles but that's a great idea! Might be a way to get a black color one.
Well, I made a visit to my local Lowes and bought some of the gray and green screw protectors today.
I recently bought a 64" Samick Journey to bowfish with, and needed a tip protector.
The gray 1/2" fit perfectly; like it was made for it!
