This issue has probably come up before, but is new to me. I switched to trad a few years ago, and have been shooting a 50# @ 28 2012 grizzly which I draw to 29". It has shot great and I get pretty good groupings. However, I recently obtained a 73-75 kodiak magnum, and boy, there is a difference. It is in great shape with only a few minor scratches around the tips. I purchased a new string and added some home made wool silencers and after 20 minutes of shooting and playing with the brace height was grouping better than my newer grizzly. I was pretty surpised. Guess this topic is more of an observation than anything, but has anyone else had a similar experience?
I forgot to add that the magnum is 50X #.
I have a 2014 Super Griz and it shoots great . I have a 73 K-Mag and it practically shoots itself .
I have had that K-Mag sense 73 and it is still my favorite bow in my herd .
Kodiak Magnums are great little bows. I had a vintage 1962 that was a great little shooter and extremely quiet. The Handle seems like it is set forward a little more than the Grizzly I owned and that may lead to the 'shoot itself' feeling. I just found the draw more comfortable on my longer Super Kodiak (60").
I was surprised, too, at how well an old K Mag shoots, especially afield rather than on the target range. They just love to sling arrows where you're pointing.
I have a 1970 K-Mag and I shoot as well as my 64" and 66" longbows.
At first I was concerned that my draw length of 29 " would be a problem with stacking and finger pinch, but I haven't had any problems. I'm looking forward to getting it out in the field.
I have an early 70's Grizzly and KMag both rated 45# - however the Grizzly is drawing a couple of lbs. heavier. I find I shoot them both about the same however it takes me a few sessions to get used to one or the other if I switch between them.
Love the mid 70s K mag!
