Title: Scallop's anyone ?
Post by: Tradcat on April 23, 2015, 07:16:00 PM
Hey fellow Tradagangers, If you were considering trying the two tracks string scallops, I HIGHLY recommend them ! I shoot a Great Northern Bushbow three under and have used homemade wool puffs for years. I noticed three things by switching to the scallops. (1) usually shooting 3 fingers under is louder but after switching to the scallops, my bow is a lot quieter ! (2)As a bonus,I picked up some unsolicited speed...approx 4-5 FPS. The scallops were literally 50% lighter than the puffs... and (3)how much easier it is to adjust them in the tuning process. They slide very easy up and down the string. Fantastic product !

I have heard great things about them. I am going to have to try them.

Could not agree with you more TradCat...they are the bees knees for silencers.

I hear tell that chuck is making some a size bigger to help some stubborn recurves.

Rarely do o see a product that works as well but so easy to use as the scallops.

How do they compare to cat whiskers?

And a pinch of garlic

Need to give these silencers a try. Any one know if they hold water in the rain?

Thanks guys,
Jake is right. We plan to have some size options soon.
Katman, Everything gets wet when it rains, It has been my experience that the Scallops "shed the water" better than puffs or fur. I think it is because there are no "individual" fibers to hold on to the water. Less surface area.  That is my opinion and according to feed back that we get.

These can't be very traditional. If they don't hold at least 120 burrs in a tangled messy wad by the end of the season....

  ;)

Chuck... You make a great product. Any idea when the new sizes might become available ?

Just put some in yesterday in one of my favorite bows. Unstrung the bow measured down where I wanted them put them in,and strung the bow back up. They are really simple to put in and are very effective.

I bought 4 pair of the wool scallops and love them!  I put on set on my Hill Tembo and I can tell the difference with them on.  my Hill was quiet with just a well waxed string but the scallops definitely dampened the vibration/oscillation after the shot.  Easy to put on and the look nice and simple.
