Title: 1956-58 Bear KODIAC Fast flight safe?
Post by: Zradix on April 17, 2015, 09:25:00 AM
Hey gang,

I'm working on a 56-58 60" 52# Bear Kodiac with white glass.
I haven't narrowed down the years any closer.
The tips have some glass layered on them from the factory.

Is this bow fast flight safe?

Thanks

John

I agree, Bear did not start using fiberglass in their. tips until about 1960.  The old paper micarta tips should not be used with modern string materials.

No way I would put fast flite on that bow. Why take the chance? Reward not worth the risk.   :campfire:

White glass, sounds like a 58.  The overlays are colored paper and can be replaced with fiberglass, but I would be reluctant to try because of the age and the glue was probably epoxy for the wood to glass and Urac for the wood to wood laminations.
