Post by: KYArcher on April 16, 2015, 07:06:00 PM
Turkey Season opens here in KY Saturday April 18, and I would like to say Good Luck to my fellow Kentuckians that will be out there with stick and string. Pick a spot and remember to hit em high. KY   :archer:

How did you manage that? Your not suppose to shoot your blind just the critters. AND GOOD LUCK FELLA'S!

shed hunter....Harvesting a wild turkey with traditional equipment is one of North America's greatest challenges. Missing is much easier to experience than actually shooting an unseen tiny striped piglet off the tit as you factually accomplished most recently.

Also, you may possibly recall that when I was guiding you on two consecutive turkey hunts, you missed on all five shot opportunities.

One of my close friends, a former traditional state champion, missed twice this weekend and another good friend, who is a Bear Archery sponsored trad archer, also missed on Saturday.

Confession is good...

So far this season, I have yet to be afforded an opportunity to miss....perhaps this morning.

Set my DSD jake about 6 yards from my blind. I thought I was pretty calm when taking the shot offered when three jakes challenged my decoy. Concentrating on " picking a spot " I failed to notice my broadhead would not clear the bottom of the blind window. Complete miss......clean slit in screen/fabric from my Treeshark!!!
If I thought this would be my last miss....I would be disappointed. Hope there are many more opportunities in my future.

Im glad you got the shot Tom! Hopefully that big gobbler shows up and give you the shot and you get to take him home. Maybe the jake was just preparing you for when the big guy shows up in full strutt.
