Title: 6 gold style ledge releases
Post by: snowplow on April 16, 2015, 04:29:00 PM
Hi fellas,

do any of you guys shoot ledge style non mechanical releases like the old 6 gold or others like it?

I shoot a glove but always fantasize over having a fully functional right hand without a tab hanging all over the place or thick finger stalls. For that reason I LOVE the idea of thumbrings. But I'm not willing go go there. However these little non mechanical releases really intrigue me. I dont see a draw back other than

1. Not holding the arrow as you draw, but three under has the same 'disadvantage' if you want to call it one.

2. Probably just a fraction slower to load?

Seems like it would help accuracy by making a repeatable release, increase speed a touch, not effect your dexterity as much as a tab or glove.

Since it is non mechanical it doesn't bother me from a traditional point of view. You can make it yourself out of wood yada yada.

What do you guys think of these?

It would be great for people who have problems with their hands. I know I would if it came down to use one or stop shooting.

Someone mentioned useing a release on another site and I believe they are not allowed at some 3d shoots and indoor shoots also.

I didn't realize that.

So do people not like these things or has nobody really tried them much?

My friend has made me one. It took a lot for me to start liking it. Then after a while, I din't like it any more. Works great for him though.
