My Longbow is 48lbs at 28inches and I pull about 29. Just wondering if that's enough to shoot the snuffers. I love the size of them I think they'd be great for turkeys and whitetail I'm still a newbie to all this only a couple kills under my belt so maybe this is a dumb? Thank you all for everything as always.
Hey man you'll hear all the "light bow bashers" say you gotta go with a two blade head from anything under 50#"s but in my opinion a sharp three blade head (snuffer, woodsman)at reasonable shot distances will kill any turkey or whitetail. With tremendous bloodtrails to boot...
You'll be just fine.
Thanks guys. I just wanted a little input before I how investing more $ into broad heads just to hope they will work. Input very appreciated
When my sons were small I mounted 2 blades for them thinking of better penetration with there 40#s bows, they might have been a little over 40 at there draw . They shot numerous deer that we couldn't find due to no blood trails. I switched them to snuffers and we found every deer after the switch. My son Damon killed a 7 foot 2 inch nose to tail black bear with a 49 # longbow. I don't think you will have a problem . You'll be shooting at least 50#s at 29"
You're pulling about the same weight as me. I put snuffers through the shoulders on 2 different deer. Entrance behind near shoulder, exit crushing through the far shoulder. Pass throughs. Both shots were about 15 yards and on the ground. Love 3 blade heads! Easy for me to sharpen too.
Are you guys using the 125heads?
Yes
I use the 160's with mid 40 to low 50 lb bows with no problems
You won't have any problem.
160s for 20 years 40# to 70#. Never had any issues..............
If it were me, I'd just go with the 125 grain and just make sure they are razor sharp and mounted so they spin true. I would also file the tip lightly to make a pyramid type tip to give it some strength. They should work fine for you at that draw.
Get your arrow flying perfect and you bet.
