I shot these bows ~50# @ 25
Inferno is 54in marked 61# @ 28
Eros is 54in marked 60# @ 28
Both braced 6.5 inches
While shooting I had 4 catwhiskers on the Inferno and 2 two tracks scallops on the Eros. I was shooting a bare shaft Gold Tip Traditional 1535 with 225gr tip weight.
To tune out the bareshafts the Eros shot a 3 inch shorter shaft than the Inferno.
I then shot them with their respective bareshafts one after the other several times. My conclusions:
Both bows while strung were very close to the same length.

Both bows shot with the same quietness that I can tell while shooting.
Both bows had the same feel at the shot.
Both bows shot close to the same point of impact up to 20 yards, then the Inferno started slowly dropping after that compared to the Eros.
The Inferno has a smoother draw cycle.
The Eros looked to shoot faster but I didn't chrono for specifics.
These are just my opinions. Nothing done scientific, just feel and observation. Thought it may help someone choose if they are on the fence about which one they would rather. Both excellent bows. Love them both. Gregg Coffee done an excellent job on them.

That is a sweet pair! Congrats. I own four of Gregg's bows... I might have to make it five. lol.
Thanks Jason, That will help me decide on the bow I order when I win his St. Jude auction bow...LOL
Great review! GT 1535 out of a 50 lb at your draw. Isn't that a very weak arrow for those bows??? Seems like you had to cut arrows real short. Just curious. My Elkheart is about 49 at my draw and I shoot a Axis 400 long with 75 gr insert and 145 point.
You did great job with veneers and Gregg builds awesome bows! Enjoy!
25 inch draw isn't putting very much power stroke on the arrow. With 225gr tip weight, I'm about maxed out with that arrow with the power of the Eros. I will go up to the next spined set of arrows for it.
Great review Jason, now stop that before I have to drive to Miss and shoot them lol.
Beautiful bows Jason!!
I can't wait to shoot the new recurve!
We'll all be shooting it in a few weeks. Swamp said he'd let me have it for a week or two. :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:
I really think you should switch the silencers around. If it were me I'd put the rubber on the Eros and the Scallops on the Inferno. Those two sets of rubber whiskers weigh a crap load more grain wise than a pair of Scallops, so I bet its costing the Inferno a couple FPS, besides the Inferno should be the quieter of the two anyway ("technically") and only need Scallops. Just my two cents if you wanted to 'even it out' a little more. Either way being a recurve the Eros will prolly end up with a wee bit more cast.
Those bows look SO good btw.
Got 4 scallops in the Eros now and moved the brace height up to 7.5inches fine tuning it. Went up a little in a stiffer spine arrow. Shooting 90 heritage which is slightly stiffer but 9.7gr/in compared to the GT Traditional 15/35s at 7.8gr/inch. And the 90 heritage finishes at 1in shorter. I will put cat whiskers on the Eros when I get some. Just out right now.
Great comparison!
I'm loving the veneers on the Eros! Is that spalted maple or something else?
Michael,
The veneers on both bows are American Elm, that Jason stained himself. With some advice from Tracey at St Joe River Bows. Tracey does some awesome stain work in her bows. :readit:
American Elm is a very underrated bow wood.

I thought 6.5" sounded a little low for the brace height. If I remember correctly, I have my inferno set about 7 3/8". Started me wondering if I was too high! Lol.
Great pics so far, but you know the rules... Where are the full draw pics? I want to see the string angle and how those hooks move on that Eros! :archer2:

My inferno has been at 6.5 for a year. Nothing changed as I went up to 8 when I was tuning it so I put it at 6.5 because I can use all the power stroke I can get. That works for me. I'll see about getting the kids to get y'all a full 25in draw pic! Lol
this post is killing me, have a Eros on order and am back to shooting my tanjavur everyday getting ready for turkey season. Gregg just makes awesome bows !! Looking forward to making a comparison of my own

Guessing around October, maybe sooner or later that puts it about 10 mos out from placing the order at K-zoo, not worried about the when sure it will be a great bow, have plenty to keep me busy til its ready
That Eros looks really good!
I am one to Greggs scam! He develops more great bows so we keep buying more. Just kidding of course!
It started with my Elkheart but may not end till I have the whole set. If not careful Javaman is going to get a call from my wife. :biglaugh: :archer2:
Both bows looks great. Can anyone tell me how fast these bows are in exact numbers, please.
So many variables play a roll in speed that it wouldn't be fair to chrono it without a standard. I do have a chrono but not sure it's accurate.
My inferno was shooting about 148 and my Black Widow PSR was shooting about 142 but brace heights were different, tuned arrows were different and mind I'm only pulling them 25in of Draw.
If I remember right.........
Alright just shot thru the chrono for a comparison but remember this isn't an exact science and trad is suppose to be about feel more than math. Both bows have the same type of string, I braced them both at 6.5 and I shot the arrow that was tuned for the inferno at 6.5 brace, so it wasn't tuned for the Eros. The arrow weighed 475gr. I shoot around 25in draw, not sure of the exact measurement plus human error should be factored in so take it with a grain of salt.
Eros shot repeatedly around 154fps
Inferno shot repeatedly around 145fps
Oh and the inferno has 4 cat whiskers compared to the Eros with 4 two tracks scallops.
Thank You very much. I know that fps are not determinant factor at all in our sport but I am just very curious what speeds would be at 28inch draw.
