Title: Toelke Pika
Post by: Florida lime on April 08, 2015, 05:46:00 PM
Just in case you haven't noticed in the Sponsors Classified section - Dan Toelke is selling a new bow.
It's a 56" reflex deflex longbow, in either a 1 or 2 pc design.

I'm on the list for a 60" Elkheart - the Pika is interesting, but too short for my DL !

He says it draws smoothly to about 30"! Pretty impressive for a 56"er. Someone hurry up and buy one so we can get some pics and a hands on review! Lol.

Very interesting!  I'm in that almost 30" neighborhood, can't wait to hear what folks have to say about this one!  Is the grip going to be Whipish or more like the Chinook?

If you ever get tired of those two bows you can ship them to Maryland.  I'll put them to good use:)

So much for my ideas of a future 2pc Chinook.  Guess someday I'll grab a 2pc Pika.

Dan will probably gladly ship you these bows. They are pics from his website!      :D

When I was at Toelke's shop a couple of weeks ago picking up my 2 pc Chinnok, Dan mentioned that he was ready to release his new short r/d longbow, but I wasn't able to lay hands on it. It may have been in the spray booth.

I'm sure that it is a shooter, or Toelkes would not have released it until it was. Let's get some reports!!   :archer2:

Just found out about the Pika, thanks Shedhunta! Called Dan and ordered a 2pc. He is sending photos of his new personal Whip. Said I would love the wood he chose. Should be built in about three weeks. Can't wait. As soon as I get it I will post pictures and a review.

You guys best try to dig up some extra cash because the Super D is getting a little fine tuning. The new model or at least a prototype will be out at the range in early may.

What is the price on the one piece.

The 56" Pika, (reflex deflex longbow)
The "Pika" is a reflex deflex longbow that draws smooth to nearly 30".  At only 55" over all length when strung it will fit in the tightest of spots. Running a 7 1/2"-8" brace every bit of power is delivered downrange to your target. Whats more but it offers a smooth quiet release while being unbelievably stable and forgiving.
Offered in a one piece $750
Or a two pice take down featuring the bow bolt take down system $1000

Tzolk, any chance the new D will be offered in a 2 piece?

Fred,
I would suspect as much. I'll put some arrows through it at the 3D shoot in early may and give you some feedback. I'll be taking my super d for comparison.

I'm saving for a 56" Chinook now. No doubt when I talk with Dan, the Pika will be discussed.
I really like my 1970 56" Grizzly. Not too short - not too long.

"Also We are offering a Trad Gang buy for the month of april, $50 off black and brown glass PIKAs. Thats $600 for your new Toelke Pika, the "ultimate hunting bow" as a thank you for your support here on the site!"
Taken from the sponsors classifieds...looks like if you just get it with black or brown glass you're only looking at $600, that's a heck of a deal right there.

Did I miss something?  The website says $750, the discount for colored glass is $50 and the sponsor's classifieds say $600?  Regardless, I want one!

Discount for colored glass was $100, but that still doesn't make the numbers work.

The bow is $750 with veneers. With brown or black glass it's $650. With the Ganger discount reduce by $50 more and it's $600 for black or brown glass.

Well..... I just got my Pika from Dan. Beautiful bow, very quick, but I love my Toelke SS. The grip on the SS is wider, almost round in your hand. The Pika is longer front to back but thinner overall. I recieved the bow this afternoon. I am flying out on a business trip tomorrow morning. I will give it one more try on Friday when I get back. If I decide to stick with SS there is a good chance you will see the Pika listed Saturday morning. So, if you are interested in a brand new Pika 2pc, 57#@28, Cocobolo accents, with dark Mango veneers, keep your eyes open!

A few try outs on a new bow then on to the classifieds? Wow! Maybe you should have demoed one first to see if you like it.
