Title: Tomahawk Bows

Hi all,

Wondering what your opinions are of the Tomahawk series of bows from 3 Rivers? What kind of performance can I expect and is their take down system any good?

The Tomahawks are good bows but I would buy one used for a lot less. I am not sure about their take down system.

I suppose some might think this is speaking ill of a sponsor, but I am not overly impressed with Tomahawk Bows. I like 3 Rivers and the bow is decent but nothing jaw dropping about it to me. However let me say that NO BOW is fantastic to everyone that shoots it. Archer and bow is a unique pairing. You can find a lot of bows that are decent, fewer that are good and fewer still that are the best for you. I guess for me Tomahawks are in the first group. That's just my opinion take it how you will.
I agree with RH if you can find a preowned go that way.

My tomahawk is a very nice bow. I'd rank it way better than C2 above. I currently shoot a shrew but could pick up the tomahawk and enjoy it. Yes you can find faster, lighter bows but then you start getting to stability or ruggedness issues. Many bows now days to try and far to many to see them all.
These bows are worth their price especially if you pick up a deal on aused one.

A couple of years ago I had to retire my Bear Kodiak Magnum....it was damaged in a cross country move, and no longer usable.    :(    I searched and researched for a replacement (I'd been shooting the Kodiak for about 30 years), and ended up buying a Tomahawk.  It draws 50 pounds at 28 inches, and doesn't stack with my over-draw.  Mine does have the take-down feature, and dis-assembles and re-assembles quickly and positively.  I think highly enough of the Tomahawk to have had one built for my wife.  As mentioned, if you can find a used one in good condition you've got the best of both worlds. :cool:

I do not own one but had the chance to shoot one at Trad West a couple years ago. I found the bow nice looking, quiet, smooth, and it put an arrow where I wanted it at good speed as well.  If one comes along at my weight and a decent price, I would not hesitate to get it.
