In the eight years or so that we have been building quivers we have made several improvements and a variety of different products. This latest model is a Chief size Apache Primitive with a little more finesse. It's made of horse hide and designed for 4 or 5 arrows. Since it is a little more detailed than a larger Apache Primitive, we thought it might need a name of it's own. I have a name in mind but wanted to open it up for anyone who wanted to participate. The EFA Tuesday night shooting group will help in deciding the final name. Please suggest only one name per post. This basic quiver will sell for $95.00. If you win the contest then you can own one for a $50.00 donation to the Saint Jude Auction.

The Arapahoe to keep with your Indian themes
How about the the Tomahawk!
Since it is a chief size Apache I say Geronimo would be a fitting name
...or Cochise
Big Chief
Mohawk
Shis-Inday, meaning "Men of the woods" in Apache language.
Dakota
ghall80, I was just thinking about some of those pretty arrows of yours in one of these quivers.
I have already heard several good names. Keep them coming. We'll decide this probably on Tuesday night April 14.
How about Atsah, eagle in Navaho
How about Osceola.
Don I will be calling tomorrow to order one or two
Gary
How about the Choctaw.
Apache Chief
Apache Chief
Warbonnett, because isn't it really a ceremonial (broad) head dress?
Maybe.......TRIBAL
Kemosabe or Tonto
Warrior
Palomino... since it is crafted from horsehide
Scout... for continuation of native theme, and in honor of Tonto's horse
Don I will be calling tomorrow to order one or two
Gary
How about Galitsadi ('Gah-lee-'zat-dee)? Roughly translated from Cherokee for "bowhunter".
My wife's uncle is a (Eastern band) Cherokee nation native American;got this word from him.
The "Mohican"
Anasazi......in honor of the ones who came before or the ancient ones
Don
How about
Crazy Horse.
Since its horse hide
Pinto or Stallion
I think in keeping with your Native American theme, why not go with a Cherokee Nation name for horse, since it's made of horsehide.
Soquili
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2_yoStcQME
And kind of ironic that quiver and Soquili share three sequential letters -qui
WAPITI ......Native American for ELK.....
Beautiful Quiver
I would call it "Mine"
The Black Crow
Appaloosa
Hiawatha
Well I might have to call it mine :) Nice looking quiver
Sagittarius,Appollo,1 Feather.
It's the first day after posting them and already we are a half dozen quivers behind. That's good,I think. I guess this years St. Jude donation will be one of these new quiver (or two). Now we have to figure out what colors to use for those.
Several of the names are good and similar to what I was thinking. Don't wait if you want to play. You get a good deal and raise a little money for St. Jude if you win.
Pink version
Sacajawea
Sacagawea would be perfect!
Tashunke
Means horse in Lakota

Sioux
Mebane Grande

"Comanche" just rings right in my ear!
Apache Elite
I see you have a bunch of Indian names. You could call it the Golden Eagle, sort of in line with your company name?
Arapaho
Eschtah, Navajo Chief from Zane Grey's The Heritage of the Desert.
I like the native American names but some of them are not easy to pronounce. The name needs to be one that is easy to remember. I have one name in mind that might be used if someone else comes up with it. Otherwise one of the names already given will probably be used. Thanks, and keep trying.
Junaluska is in keeping with the Cherokee Indians (Tsalagi) of North Carolina, but Geronimo is easier to remember, plus he was an Apache, like this quiver. :D
Big chief
Cree
Mohican
Aeta
Stallion
Ishi
Yana
Cree
Eagle
Eagles Nest
Aerie
The E.F.A. Blackfoot :)
Nation

Hopi

Kaia
homebru
Homebru, what does Kaia mean, and what tribe?
Bear in mind, I read this on the internet. Could be true, could be "internet".
The Catawba religion has a creator (Manatou), and sometimes is said to have a trinity. This trinity consists of Manatou, the creator; Kaia, the turtle; and a third being sometimes said to be the son of Manatou
So, in a nutshell, turtle. Not exactly what you were expecting but something about it being part of a native holy trinity, the hare and the tortoise, tortoise shell covering your arrows.......well, that's how my brain works.

Tomorrow will decide what name is to be used. The Tuesday night shooters (the committee) will be called on to help pick the winner. Remember, the winner will get one of these quivers in return for a $50.00 donation to St. Jude. and through Tradgang. A chance to help the kids and own a very nice quiver is what you get. If you have any last minute ideas bring them up now. It's just today and tomorrow. Thanks. :archer2:
Stitch
How about the "Kaw" or "Kansa"?
Although my family has rumors of Kaw blood, nothing can be proven. And I just recently found out that this tribe is officially considered extinct, since around the year 2000, when the last "bona fide" member of the tribe passed away. Would be a cool tribute to yet another lost nation.
Seminole
If no one has used it The Chato Quiver. One of the Great Apache Chiefs.
Ojibwa
Chippewa
Apache Chief Ultra
Last chance.
Chieftain
Oh man the anticipation is too much.

Wow! There were so many good names suggested that it was almost impossible to pick a clear winner. We anguished over whether to go with an Indian chief name like Geronimo or Cochise, or maybe an Indian name for eagle or horse. Eagle's Nest was considered, but because that was the name of Adolph Hitler's resort in Germany, we decided against it. A lot of the Indian names were difficult to pronounce. A couple of names considered were Apache Eagle, American Eagle, Golden Eagle, and Patriot. Right now I believe I'll punt the ball and come back tomorrow with the name.
:coffee:
Good Luck - you've got a lot of suggestions ! :D
Pegasus
God bless, Steve
OK so if you have yet to pick a winner...

Well, it's time to choose. We love some of the Native American words for animals, the different tribes, and the names of their chiefs. There are so many names that we would like to use. After a lot of effort, the name decided on was "Cochise". He was a great leader of a great nation. The winner is "sleepyhollow" or Steve Willsea, who suggested this name on the first page of this thread.
Steve, you can claim your quiver by donating $50.00 to the St. Jude's Auction. When that is done just let us know what colors you want, etc.
Karen and I would like to thank everyone who participated. It was obvious that some did a little research for this, and a little thought. We would like to show our appreciation by offering a 10% discount toward purchase of one of these "Cochise" quivers to anyone who participated by suggesting a name. This would be valid until June 1, 2015.
We(EFA)will also donate two "Cochise" quivers to the St. Jude Auction and urge everyone to support the St. Jude Auction and the moderators who make it possible.
  :notworthy:
CONGRATS sleepyhollow, that was a great suggestion!!!
and
THANK YOU 2 Fletch & Karen for the fantastic opportunity, donation and offer!!! :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:
Congrats Steve
Thank you Don and Karen, it is an honor. I wonder if I have to wait until the bids open to make the donation, does anyone know?
Don what colors are available?
Steve, I'd suggest that you contact Terry Green or one of the moderators to arrange payment. Right now we have done them in two shades of brown, and the green and brown quivers shown on the thread. We have also done some in red and black, and one with a green front and the rest in a reddish brown. We are still looking at different color combinations. We would use natural color artificial sinew in most combinations.
We now have one of these quivers on the St. Jude Auction site. We will probably put another one on there after we decide what color combination to use. Remember it's for the kids.
Will be making that donation as soon as the auctions open !!, think I want one like the top pic on page one, the dark brown with the lighter brown insert :bigsmyl:
:clapper:
sleepyhollow, that quiver will be reserved for you. Thanks for participating and congratulations in winning against some formidable competition.
Don,
Thanks for letting us "play the game" and help out St. Judes.

Wanted to let all know my new Cochise came today as promised by Don for naming the quiver and a donation to St Jude, this quiver is beautiful, a nice rich chocolate brindle with an oak colored insert that will match my dark walnut veneer/oak tip overlay critter gitter perfectly, thank you Don !!
I'm looking forward to the one that I won in the auction. I just sent in a check for all the items I won Monday, so I'm trying to be patient. :D
Great looking bow quiver Don!
