Wondering how Full Metal Jacket arrows compare in durability to Carbon Express Heritage and Gold Tip Traditional arrows? Really curious on how they would hold up stump shooting with judo's more than a hunting situation?
Jon
The penetrate BIG TIME!!! They are very durable.
They are very durable and like the dragon heart says they penetrate very well. I am a big fan.
Me 3!! :shaka:
Missed my target at 15 yards. Hit it into a rock and only pressed the point into the shaft about half an inch splitting the aluminum. That's out of a 70 buffalo. With a 300gr point hitting solid stone. So I would say pretty tough.
I'd say if they're anything like my ACCs they're insanely tough. They hit like a freight train too.
If you plan to practice doing stump shooting or shooting in hard target they won't retain their straightness as good as standard carbon shaft. I used theese FMJ for 3 year and switched as i found they were not cost effective. Use the classic Axis arrows and you will have same advantage of a thin shaft with a better durability for outdoor practice at a better price

I still hunt with FMJ's but have had similar experience with the arrows on the range. For practice I shoot carbon.
The Axis woodgrain are only a hair lighter than the FMJ. Mine are 12 grains lighter per arrow than my FMJs same length and point, if you are looking to stay all carbon, the woodgrain are a good option.
I've been shooting FMJ's for the past four years and have nothing bad to say about them. They are as durable as any shaft I have shot.......will not be changing to another shaft any time soon.
I've split several and went back to aluminums. The ones I have now will not get used until they are footed.
God bless, Steve
Maybe Steve O will chime in here soon I know he has done some extensive testing!
Well, I love them. I don't seem to have a lot of trouble with them and I do a lot of stump shooting. Here is a thread where I turned a Snuffer inside itself and split a judo point lengthwise.

My favorite hunting arrow!! You can't go wrong with FMJs
I have been shooting Axis arrows for a while but just recently went to FMJ's. I haven't havested anything with them as of yet but can say they are tough. I do a lot of roving and have had 0 issues and they fly like darts.
Some FMJ's rigged up and footed sitting nicely on my new TallTines Stickflinger

They are a great HUNTING shaft. didnt hold up against my abuse, footed carbons are tops
The Beman Nightfall or Easton Axis is a tougher shaft imo
