Title: Future of Fedora bows?
Post by: Wheels2 on March 26, 2015, 07:33:00 AM
I heard that since Jason's death last year, Mike Fedora is getting out of the bow business.
Does anyone know who is buying the business?

Was  Jason the son that also built bows with Mike.  If so I was not aware he had passed away.

In a post on the thread linked above, someone stated that Jason "left" but nothing was said about him dying.  Tracker, yes, Jason was building bows with Mike.  Wonder of we will see him go into business on his own as his older brother Mike Jr. did.  Producing bows as well made as Mike did them will be a tough act to follow.  The new owner is only listing bows in 10# increments--40-50-60# "only", etc.  Lots of folks will not go for that if such is the case.

I misconstrued what Mike told me about a year ago about "losing" his son. Jason is currently living in NY. The workload was too much for Mike to handle, and was the reason it took 14 months to complete my bow. It would appear Fedora bows will for the most part will be produced in higher volume now, which might not be a bad thing. But a custom bow will require more time.

Jason is alive and well living in Syracuse NY. We have been in touch via FB. I want the real gray wood to show in my riser, didn't want it stained to match the limbs. Love "Lefty"...a real shooter.

Glad to hear that "losing" only meant that he left the bow shop.

I may be way off base, but I read that to mean that his stock bows will be available in 10# increments.   I would guess custom orders could be had in different weights.

Fedora was at the ATA show in January, looking for dealers.

I was contacted by the new owners. Dealer bows will be offered in specific woods and 10# increments. Any variation will be a custom bow.
