Any older recurves come to mind as standouts?
Say from the 1970's, give or take.
Thanks for any opinions, Skychief.
K-Mag , Grizzly , Shakespeare Wonderbow , to name a few . I can think of more but let's see what else comes up .
Love my kmags and my grizzly for sure
K mag!
Howatt Hi-Speed, Grizzlies, Kodiak Mags,Browning Nomad and short Explorer , Wing Red Wing Hunters. I had a real pretty Shakespear Super Neceda but stacked really bad and broke at my 28 in draw after a year. I never really trusted shakespears after that although I loved the looks of the Ocala.
God bless, Steve
Damon Howatt Hi-Speed 54"-58".
My only two bows at the moment.
1970 Bear Grizzly - 56" 45#@28"
1966 Bear Grizzly - 58" 52#@28"
Both Lefties and in great shape. About $200.00 each.
Love the grips and the nostalgia.
When I was refinishing bows I got to see and shoot a bunch of them. Damon Howatt HiSpeed would be at the top of my list. If 58" works then one of their Diablo models is also a real sweetheart.
Browning 58" Cobra II
Go back 20 more years and get ya' a Grumley static!
Often overlooked the 58" Hoyt Pro Hunter was fast smooth and good looking... like my prom date. ;)
My favorite 56" Groves Spitfire and this 50" Browning Cobra. The Groves is head and shoulders above the Browning but both shot great.

Wing (Bob Lee) Thunderbird.
Bill Pyle's Staghorn recurve was a real shooter. It's one bow I wanted but the dealer wouldn't order me a 60#, said I only needed 45#....so I bought a Browning.
Already mentioned above-- Wing Red Wing Hunter 58".
I've got a Ben Pearson Deerslayer Special 58" 45#, an earlier one from the 1960s I think, that's a surprisingly nice bow-- brown wood riser (shedua, maybe?), maple cores, brown glass. Well made, looks nice, shoots nice, and quiet as a mouse.
When I was 20 I had a red wing hunter 55# 58", I never liked the bow so I traded it for a Kodiak Hunter 50# 60" I shot it a lot better.
Ben Pearson Hunter 58" and Wing Hunter 58"
Bear A riser with No.2 limbs 58" :)
I shot a 58" 1971 Grizzly for 43 years without any complaints, but I've become promiscuous in my old age and, by comparison to the Grizzly, I thought a Red Wing Hunter had a smoother draw and more zip downrange, a Super Grizzly was no better or worse than a Grizzly, the BP Hunter (709), 58", was a bit plodding and I had mixed experiences with K-Mags...loved a '67, struggled with a '71. I keep my eyes out for a comely '67 K-Hunter, 58", Hoyt Pro Hunter, and/or more exotic gal like the Groves Spitfire, 52" Wing Thunderbird and any number of the Herters, Browning and Colt bows, and I never shot a Necedah so tha'ts on my list to try. But I find myself shooting mostly 60-66" recurves with a lot of mass in the riser, which makes comparison to the magnums difficult.
I love all these.

Bear Super Grizzly 58"
American Archery Hunter 58"
Bear Grizzly 58"
Bear Kodiak Hunter 58"
Ben Pearson Hunter 58"
Ben Pearson Special 58"
Ben Pearson H90 58"
Bear Kodiak Magnum 52"
Red Wing Hunter 52"
Browning Cobra I 50"

Bud B, what a great collection! All in such good shape and picture shows them all well. Thank you for posting....
Great group of bows there, Bud, and I had forgotten that you're a lefty. I've been driving 64 back and forth through Zoo City a lot lately..all my daughters are in Raleigh and I get tired of the interstate..see plenty of deer after dark along 64.
My 1962 KMag is one of the very nicest bows I have even owned
DDave
Heres some of my favorite oldies to shoot. 46" Herters Perfection Sitka, 46" Herters Perfection, 52" Phenolic Wing Tbird, 52" 1969 Kmag. Of course cant forget the Grizzly too. Kmag and Tbird have the best grips ever.

64 and deer..hand in hand. My daughter hit one coming back from NCSU several years ago. Tore her Beetle up.
That 69 looks great Bryan, as do the others
I love shooting my 3 Bear bows: '75 47# KMag, '76 47# Super Griz and a '70 45# Super Kodiak 60". All three are really great shooters. Horserod
Funny how that Kmag keeps popping up there on everyones posts. LOL
I sometimes wish my draw wasn't so long, I have always loved those K-mags

Love this one! 56" Grizzly, I believe '68

Browning Explorer 1 is nice too. 56" Think it's '72 ?

''65 Kodiak Magnum. I re-worked the grip and shelf on this one
Man I like the looks of that Browning Explorer.
Dave,
That 56" Grizzly has been on here before. It's what made me get my lefty at 56". Next up for me is a slide on Selway 4 arrow quiver. That's a nice setup.

She sure is pretty, I couldn't resist!

Lol. I like to show her off! My first recurve, a gift from my Uncle.
58" Shakespeare Kaibab.
All the above, but a standout for me were the several Tellum bows I have owned. Superb.
Sanders made a spectacular hunter also. I still have that one. A little beat now, but I will get it looking pristine again one of these days.
Ditto on the Nico Tellums. Another one is the Wing Chapparel. Not too many around but have always loved those bows.
God bless, Steve
Not exactly vintage, but here's a little 52" Two Tracks Ambush. It was a tad too heavy for me and I had to let it go. Not long after that I switched to lefty anyway. Had the prettiest set of water moccasin skins I've ever seen.
Now I have a nice, green K'Mag lefty that is 45@28" and I'm always amazed at how it can be drawn beyond 28" and still not stack.

Despite Sixby's earlier comment, the Shakespeare Super Necedah. I've been shooting mine for 40 years with a 30 1/2" draw, no stack and no breakage!
