Title: Hybrid longbow travel case? suggestions
Post by: bear bowman on March 25, 2015, 10:09:00 AM
I have a striker sport hybrid. I drive a pickup that doesn't have back seats. What I'd like to do is have a way to transport my bow in the bed of my truck. I was thinking of using plastic pipe. I was wondering if any of you may have some ideas.

Buy one:  Recurve or R/D Bow Travel Case (http://www.farnortharchery.com/product/recurve-or-rd-bow-travel-case-plus-arrows/)  from Far North Archery or    Standard Recurve Travel Hard Case (http://www.3riversarchery.com/standard+recurve+travel+hard+case_i5132_baseitem.html)  from 3Rivers Archery,

or build one:  Six inch PVC Sch. 40 pipe (http://tinyurl.com/odwwdkg)  from Home Depot, etc.

I have one from Far North and it's a great case. Very high quality and worth the money in my opinion. I flew to Maine with a couple of my hybrids in it last fall and it worked great. Got d rings on it too which worked good for attaching my fishing rod tube to it.

I like the look of that Far North case.  I'm going to have to look into them more for travel.  I've been using a pvc tube on my hunts but that looks a LOT better finished out.

I use a Flambeau Bazuka fishing rod case, it is expandable to fit different bow lengths. I can put 2  bows in it.

PVC or a ski travel case.  Use white in hot months or paint them silver to help keep your bow cool.  My bows are in socks in the tube and I prop them so they do not roll.  I see those plastic ski carriers daily at the airport and opt for one for the trip Canada, just to try one
