Can't wait for the trip to Quebec, I started getting some things ready. I have no shortage of bows but decided on My Zipper ILF to make the trip. My Uncle Herb got me started many years ago and when he passed I got a few of his old guns. I really had plenty of guns so I sold them and bought a Fancy 17" Zipper ILF with all the bells and whistles. I thought that it would only be right to take it on this hunt. I have 2 sets of Dyrad Static tip limbs both at 46#'s that should do the job nicely. So Uncle Herb will be with me in the bush in June. Again......can't wait!!

Best of luck Ron.

Practice short shots! All the stands I was at up there were close and close to the ground. I shot mine at 6 yards and I could stand on the ground and the stand was barely above my head. Tom runs a great camp, you are going to have a great time!
-
Very cool Ron I hope you do well.
-
6 yards. That is a long shot up at Tom's. You'll have a blast. Don't forget your Thermacell's and your skinning knife.
-
I'll need a knife......? :saywhat:
-
Ben You know better than that most of the shots were about 100 yards and 25' in the tree stand. All B.S. Ron you will have a great time bunch of great guys, good food, and plenty of bears, wish I was going and I will be there another year.A couple of really big bears last year were taken.Have a great time.Kip

You're in for a blast!! If Bowdoc is in camp, you're in for a show!! Good luck. Wish I were there with you!!
-
Ron, when you think those bears are staring you down... they are really just admiring your bow.
-
Good luck! Bear Quest is a fun hunt!

Best vacation of my life! I had a rediculously long shot at my bear... 11 yards! :biglaugh: I thini I had the longest shot of the week! As a group we tended to most of the baits. They are close. And LOOOOOOOWWWWWW
-
Don't forget your camera!
-
Very cool Ron! Any pictures of that tricked out zipper to show?
-
Man you are going to have a blast Ron. I have been the last two years and managed to take a bear each time. If you averaged the two shots, I guess it would be about six yards, lol. For me, though, it is very easy to mess up a six yard shot. Being that close to those critters just a few feet off the ground can be pretty frazzleing. Not sure that's a word, but if not it should be because that's what it does, lol. Also very exciting. Pick a spot.
-
Want to hear all about it at the Muzzy.
-
Stay out off the chocolate chip cookies, they make you go blind and you want see any bears.
-
Here is the Zipper that Ron is going to kill a bear with in Quebec.

Beautiful bow Ron! Hope you have a great hunt this spring.
I am looking forward to the hunting season as well. Still up in the air as to which bow to take. Maybe a guy should just have one?
Nah, too much fun deciding.
-
Thanks KAT, That's my Zipper in memory of my Uncle Herb.......I think it will be up to the task!!
-
Great looking bow Ron, I think Uncle Herb would approve.
-
Good luck Ron ... have a great time, look forward to your story

I wish you the best of luck Ron, I hope you have a great time. Don't forget to take some flu flu's with you for the skeeters. ;)
That's a sweet looking bow too, by the way.

-
Nice bow Ron . Hopefully the next picture is with you and a bear. Good luck
-
Ron, you're in for the time of your life! Did four Bear Quests in a row and there's nothing better. Tom does an unbelievable job of making this hunt special. When I went to my first one Sweet Wife just didn't understand, as she said "you're going to drive 18 hours, by yourself, to a place you've never been to before and spend a week with a bunch of people you've never met". My answer was yes. I'm envious and happy for you at the same time, wish I could be there with you and all the guys but I have to keep the peace at home. Good luck and you'll be back, the best time you'll ever have with a bow in your hand and the added bonus is you'll make lifelong friends that enjoy the same things you do.

Ron I know you like them close but you better start practicing extremely close from the sound of it.
-
I can vouch for the close and low. I never hunted from a stand that I couldn't reach up and touch standing on the ground and some are rediculously close to the bait, probably 6-8 yards max. I think the last night I hunted a stand that couldn't have been 5 yards, maybe 4.
Really fun trip and a great way to spend a week.
-
Yup, up close and personal. I hung this camera on the tree the stand was in and we picked up this big boy coming in towards the end of the week. Kent spent his last night on stand there and we thought for sure he was going to get him. About an five yard shot six foot up. That's a five gallon bucket next to him.

Have a great trip Ron, enjoy the hunt along with the fellowship. Hope you arrow a nice one.
-
Beautiful bow Ron. I'm getting the itch too. I'm on first week as well and this will be my first bear hunt.
Taking the Holcomb 59er as my go-to, but I wonder if a second bow for a back up is a good idea?
AJ
-
I'm just taking the Zipper but I'm bringing an extra set of limbs at the same specs.
-
Are you driving Ron?
F-Manny
-
Yes Manny, I think I'm driving but nothing has been cast in stone yet. There may be an airport pick up involved in the plan but not sure yet.
-
Have a great time Ron! I can't think of more deserving guy...

Best of luck Ron

Cool Greg. Hope you have a great time.
It sounds as if you will have a great crew in camp that week.
-
Sounds like a good time.
-
Did some close shooting last week......have to decide what arrows to use, but I'm sure looking forward to this.
-
Ron, if you can make it work, get some Douglas Firs and put a Grizzly Instinct on the front. That would be my pick.
