I shoot a centaur chimera that is 52lbs at 28"s. I draw 27"s. What arrow would you shoot? I currently shoot a 29.5" CE 150 with 250 up front. I have great flight however I am wondering if maybe I would get better performance with a CE 90.
I know I should probably go with the if it aint broke dont fix it motto but I am just looking for some input.
Thanks,
Kevin
Glad you asked I'm in the same boat and have been thinking about this for the last week. I can't decide what to do.
Id go with what's flying well already.
That depends on what your mission is. If it is hunting at realist ranges I would stick with what you got. On the other hand if you plan on doing something like 3D where the range might go to 40+ yards on those big targets you might consider the lighter arrows. I know your setup could do it as well but a flatter shooting arrow makes distance estimating a lot easier.Of course this IMO
Oh sure... you could probably make that work for you. but you are going to have a lot flatter trajectory and faster arrows to get used to..... It won't be as forgiving, but it might be fun.
Your current setup sounds good... Not for certain but I thought the CE90s have unique or smaller components which may not be as versatile. Certainly up to you for the decision, but you asked for opinions... :-)
Sounds like youre real close to me!
At a 28" draw, and my 53# Blacktail, I could not get 150's to fly. I cut one as short as I could and it was still too weak. So I moved up to 250's and could add some weight.
I think I'd stay with what you are using now.
