Bring lots of alcohol and hand it out to the locals, they will love you for it...

Seriously, take lots of money.  Beer is very expensive.

Try aquavit, their equivalent of whiskey, then in the morning resolve never to have another drop again.

I am quite sure that they don't have the Euro, so unfortunately you won't be able to take avantage of its weakness right now.

Doesn't Greyarhcer1 live somewhere around there?
Alex

Our regiment used to spend part of evrery winter there.  Cold weather training was great, the people super and the country beautiful?  Hope you get to see it and meet the Harty folk who live there

I know they don't allow the blue M&M's there do to some chemical in the dye. I would bring those and sell on the black market.    :)

I live just an hour and a half from Oslo, so maybe we can meet up. Good fishing and stumping possibilities up here.

Margly (Member # 18615) is from Norway.

I have been to Norway 1/2 dozen times and was actually married at the very top of Norway (top of Europe at 73 degrees N. Lat.) at Skorsvag.

It is the most beautiful country I have ever been to, I hope you feel the same after visiting.  It IS very expensive, 1 dollar US = 8.33 Nor Krone but keep in mind a beer may cost 68-70 Krone or about $8 US.  Culturally people are more to themselves and may seem reluctant to say "hello on the street" but are friendly and very interested in getting to know you on a personal level.

If you drink...bring the alcohol you are allowed per Norwegian Customs,  http://www.visitnorway.com/us/about-norway/travel-facts/before-you-go/customs-and-regulations/,  as a gifts or other...it will be appreciated as it is very expensive and not readily available like here in the States.

It is not about drinking in Norway though...culturally they are not about indulgence; they are highly educated, healthy and mindful of the environment...a unique place indeed!

Enjoy your trip!

Kris

ps - you'll have about 20+ hours of sun then, you'll be jet lagged and that amount of light will mess with you too; you will likely not recover in that short time either.
