Last year was the first full year that I toted around a video camera pretty much wherever I/we went.
I was rewarded with tons of video that captured memories that will be with me forever.
I considered putting together a DVD to sell, but with my entry level equipment, I don't think the quality of the video was good enough to sell.
And honestly, I wouldn't know the first thing how to go about putting together and selling a DVD.
So with hours and hours of raw video to deal with I've decided to just release and share a series of short films, pretty much in chronological order as I get them edited.
Part 1, "Winter, the scout, and a boys first turkey with a bow", features a turkey hunt that some of you may have seen from last spring(re-edited), but also a lot of new footage from before the hunt took place. Cade's first turkey with a bow, a day I hope I'll remember till my last breath!
Part 2, "The Show", features a self filmed hunt of my first day in the blind hunting in 2014. A hunt that was far from over after the arrow was released!
Please let me know what you think of the films by commenting here or on You Tube....there's a lot more to come. Part 3 will be up tomorrow or the next day, then part 4 soon after. That will take care of turkey season.
As a side note....I'll have a much better camera this year in the blind with me!

Awesome! :clapper: Good job Cade! Good job Dad! Great video Guru, Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to see more.
Bob
Really cool, well done bud! My only comment would be that we've probably all seen dvd's being marketed that were of the same quality, maybe not even as good so I think your well on your way to getting out there.
GREAT stuff Curt! Poor video my tail! thanks for posting it!
Well done Curt! Some fantastic footage!
Thanks for posting these videos. Excellent stuff!
You have SKILLS!
I make my living thru a camera lens.(even though my is a still camera not video) I know skills when i see it. you put alot of thought into each frame, composition, angle, and capture technique.
If I were you I would explore the details of making a dvd for sale. all you need is a duplicator (services provide at a million online places), and bar codes generated. Then distribute. not as hard as you think. And you have exactly what it takes to do it right.
IMO: people want a story, they want details, they want to feel like they are there, they want to live in the experience......I dont know of anyone who would watch a film with those attributes and say " If only he used a better camera".
Just food for thought!
Great videos! I'm always wishing there were more good trad bowhunting videos out there. Thanks for sharing
Curt, I'm watching the first one and I don't see anything that resembles a low budget flick bud! Pretty impressive by any standard. May I ask what type of equipment you used? Thx, Mike
Great stuff. I could vids like that all day.
Love the Bob Palmer turkey call btw. I saw him for the first time in months last Saturday......going to have to remember to put in a request for an aluminum or glass.
Awesome Curt. A ton of work goes into editing and filming in general is a lot of work. I always look forward to your pics and videos. Good stuff!!!
Watched number 2 the other day, I'm loving these videos. Great footage of the bird destroying the decoys haha. They really went to town on those decoys!
I thought it was great. I enjoyed the bow fishing clip on you tube as well. TonyZ
Great job Curt and Cade!! :clapper:
Can't get much better than that. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! Perfectly timed post as I am starting my spring gobbler scouting here in WV.

The next best thing to owning the DVD. Thank you!
P.S. What huskyarcher said.
If you need any help with video editing or tips with cameras let me know. I'm happy to help.
You and Cade definitely have what it takes to make a DVD to sell.
Great video ! Nice shooting Cade ! :clapper:
Well done. Hard to comprehend how much he'll enjoy those many years from now.

That's a really good point. I have some old black and white photos of myself as a kid, and there's a reel or two of 8mm movie film of my Dad and myself shooting bows around here somewhere, but what I wouldn't give to have something like Cade will have available to him later in life.
Bob
Thanx so much 'gangers for the encouragement!
When you put something like these together you always wonder how other will perceive your work.
For year I fought the urge to video because I carried enough gear already. Cade's second year of deer hunting(2013), I got this tiny Sony cx230 and made a tree arm from a bowholder to keep things simple and light. My intention was to get what I could on film...now I'm hooked!
Someone asked what I'm using...besides the aforementioned Sony CX 230 I use on a tripod or treearm....I'm using a Sony WX 300 point and shoot for handheld "b roll" stuff.
Second angle/point of view camera is a Sony action cam....you'll see more of this camera in my bowfishing video.
anyway Part 3 coming in a bit....
Part 3 "Two Tags, Two Hunts"
In part 1 you saw Cade's first hunt of the season that resulted in him killing his first turkey with a bow. In part 3, only his second hunt of the season, you'll see what happens...

Very nice bud!!
Sweet! I realised I was holding my breath from the time you started out of the blind, until you got to the bird lol. Had me worried there for a minute. Great video, thanks.
Bob
WOW Guru, you are the man. These videos are very well done. Kudos to you and Cade for keeping us entertained with your outdoor exploits. I really enjoy watching these kind of videos. Thanks so much for sharing.
Tony
Great stuff guys. Really enjoyed watching "notch" beat up your decoy!!
Hope to catch up on all this this weekend...got 4 plays this week and 4 next week.
:campfire:
Good stuff.. You are Blessed..
Great work Curt, the footage, the editing, and most importantly the time spent with your son, (and daughter). Well done my friend.
Very refreshing to see some hunting post's.
I agree with everyone else. You are much too modest. That is a great video. Really enjoyed it. I now know my feeble attempts at videography are truly amateurish. Keep up the good work.
Enjoyed it very much just knowing it was from a couple good ole boys like us and that it was real made all the difference. Congrats too all and thanks for letting us view.
Thanks for sharing!! You and Cade have a special bond!
Really nicely done. I enjoyed taking it in.
Nicely done Curt.
What a gift! Thanks for sharing. Lot of work and love went into that. Get these on a DVDS and I'd be in line to buy. Don't see enough trad outdoor videos. What u film is so much better than most of the stuff available ---just a lot of killing stuff. Thanks.
Well done!! :clapper:
