Title: Bear Magnum 308 Shafts
Post by: last arrow on March 17, 2015, 03:04:00 PM
I have 5 of these that shoot pretty well out of my old Kodiak Hunter that I bought in 1973.  By the grains per inch, they seam to be a 1916 shaft.  Can anyone confirm that?

I want to get some more shafts for the bow and if I could match these it would be good.

Thanks

I always thought that they were a 2016.

I have some .312 arrows from days of old and they spine out almost exactly as a 2016.  I'm guessing the .308 are a smaller shaft.  Maybe a 1916 but that is a guess as I don't have one to check spine.

I tested the spine on the 308 and it comes up as 56 on my tester.  A 2016 spines at 60 on my tester.  So it seams to be stiffer than a 1916.  It is a little lighter than the 2016, close to weight to a 1916.  So I am thinking it doesn't match anything currently on the market.

I think that a 2014 is what you are looking for, it spines about 55 pounds.  Unfortunately the 2014 is only currently available in the X7 model from Easton.  You may be able to find some old stock though.

The Platinum shafts are available in a 2013 which I believe is right around a 53 pound spine.  The 2013 may work well as is or perhaps you can trim them down a touch shorter than your Bear arrows which would effectively stiffen them a little.

Lancaster Archery is listing 2013's in both Platinum and xx75 Camo Hunters as being available.

Good luck.
