Title: Another Head Weight Question
Post by: dbd870 on March 16, 2015, 07:28:00 PM
I stated a while back I dropped down and was playing with 100gr points; well they were definitely showing a little stiff so I'm now going the other way and playing with some 150gr. Stu's calculator says 125gr. should be the spot and they do just fine. I have shot 125gr and 150gr broadheads and they both drill the center very nicely. That is at 15yds because I know I make good center hits there but 20 isn't quite there like that yet. My plan is to limit myself to 20yds for deer this fall. Do you think there is any reason to choose 1 over the other at this point? Drawing 46# and the 2 arrow weights would be 462gr and 487gr respectively. I'm thinking doesn't matter, but it's fun to play.

On whitetail deer you, should be fine with either, providing you poke it in the right spot.

If they are flying a little stiff I would just go with the 150's especially if you don't notice a change in trajectory.

I think it might be easy to short draw in the heat of the moment.  So the heavier head might help with that.
